WoW SoD: Phase 4 Mage Runes&Locations

Rune Engraving is a new system in Wow Season of Discovery that allows players to use skills added in future DLCs. It brings a lot of excitement and changes to the gameplay of WoW Classic Vanilla.

Nothing is more remarkable for Mage players than having access to some of the future DLC skills in the early game. We can combine these new runes in-game to create a new Mage Build, with a total of 34 runes available so far. This opens up endless possibilities and promises an exhilarating experience.

This article will provide detailed information on the 10 runes for Mage and where or how to obtain them. We will keep updating this page with more details about the phase 4 Mage Runes and their locations.

Rune Effect: Launches several missiles at the enemy target, causing 622.263 to 761.316 Arcane damage. This spell also has a 20% to trigger Missile Barrage.

Rune Location: Arcane Barrage is a part of the Greater Friend of the Library quest line, which requires Mages to find and read a large number of books across the world. To obtain Arcane Barrage, you will need to read more books than the previous requirements for the former Phase Runes. The total number needed for this Rune is 35!

Rune Effect: Gain the Overheat ability: Fire Blast will always deal a critical strike, can be cast while casting another spell, and is not affected by the global cooldown, but its cooldown is increased to 15 sec.

Rune Location: Find four Novice Frost Mages in each of the four named fields in Western Plaguelands:

1. Felstone Field, in the house (36.8, 54.7)

2. Gahrron's Withering (64.2, 57.7)

3. The Writhing Haunt (53.3, 64.5)

4. Dalson's Tears (45.1, 51.9)

Unfreeze the Novice Frost Mage with fire spells without killing them, and then remove any curses on them. Once freed, talk to the Novice Frost Mage to receive the pages from these four mages. Combine the pages to receive the Rune.

Remember, if you accidentally kill the Novice Frost Mage, you'll only receive Charred Spell Notes, which won't be useful for your task.

Rune Effect: Launches an orb of swirling ice which rapidly moves forward over 16 sec. While it is moving, every 1 sec the orb deals 156.435 Frost Damage and applies a Chill for 30% movement speed reduction to all enemies it passes through. The first time it damages an enemy, its movement will slow and it will have a 100% chance to trigger the Fingers of Frost rune.

Rune Location: Head to Felwood around (63,11) and defeat Deadwood Furbolgs like Deadwood Avenger and Deadwood Shaman until one drops the

Mysterious Darnassian Scroll.

Use a Comprehension Charm on the Mysterious Darnassian Scroll to transform it into a

Deciphered Darnassian Scroll.

Then, go to the area around (61,12) and locate Calyx Greenglow, who patrols the area. Use the Deciphered Darnassian Scroll on Calyx Greenglow to receive the quest

"Healing the Healer."

Next, eliminate the treants around (55,22) until one drops an

Unusual Flask

. Take the Unusual Flask to Winterspring at (29,35) and meet with

Calyx Greenglow

again to complete the quest. Upon completion, Calyx will transform into an Enraged Shade, so you will need to defeat him to obtain the Rune.

Rune Effect: Chance to hit with Arcane spells increased by 6%. Not cumulative with other ring runes.

Rune Location: There is a red book located in the Hearthglen tower around (46, 13), near a Scarlet Priest. Retrieve the book to acquire the Rune.

Rune Effect: Skill with Daggers increased by 5. This effect is not cumulative with racial bonuses or other ring runes.

Rune Location: Find the red book in Silithus at (20, 85), in a tent closest to Ahn'Qiraj. Please read it to learn this rune.

Rune Effect: Chance to hit with Fire spells increased by 6%. Not cumulative with other ring runes.

Rune Location: Overseer Maltorius is located in Searing Gorge, southeast of Thorium Point. Next to his plans, at coordinates (40.58, 35.44), is a book that teaches Fire Specialization.

Rune Effect: Chance to hit with Frost spells increased by 6%. Not cumulative with other ring runes.

Rune Location: A small red book titled "Elements for Dummies Volume I: Frost" can be found in the Owlbeast camp in Winterspring, near (59, 59). Click to loot the rune.

Rune Effect: Skill with Staves and Polearms increased by 5. This effect is not cumulative with racial bonuses or other ring runes.

Rune Location: In Azshara, inside the Temple of Arkkoran, around coordinates (78, 38), there is a book located on the Moonwell. Opening the book will grant you the Rune of Pole Weapon Specialization.

Rune Effect: Skill with Swords and Two-Handed Swords increased by 5. This effect is not cumulative with racial bonuses or other ring runes.

Rune Location: The book for this Rune is located beneath Karazhan in the Master's Cellar, hidden behind two pillars. Make sure to travel into the cave segment to ensure you're in the correct location.
