WoW SoD: Phase 3 Shaman Rune&Locations

Rune Engraving is a new system in Wow Season of Discovery that allows players to use skills added in future DLCs. It brings a lot of excitement and changes to the gameplay of WoW Classic 60s.

Nothing is more remarkable for Shaman players than having access to some of the future DLC skills in the early game. We can combine these new runes in-game to create a new Shaman Build, with a total of 24 runes available so far. This opens up endless possibilities and promises an exhilarating experience.

This article will provide detailed information on the 7 phase 3 runes for Shaman and where or how to obtain them. We will keep updating this page with more details about the phase 3 shaman Runes and their locations.

Rune Effect: Gain the Overcharged ability: Your Lightning Shield never loses charges, now has a 3 sec cooldown, and deals damage to all enemies within 8 yards.

Rune Location: Shamans must complete several quests around Azeroth to obtain this rune.

Dirty Shaman Note:

This quest item drops from Blisterpaw Hyena in Tanaris, around coordinates 43, 40. Start the quest to receive the [Muddy Earth Spirit Contract]. Travel to 62, 64, drink the potion, and complete the task. Accept the follow-up quest.

Scorched Shaman Note:

This quest item drops from the Magma Elementals in Searing Gorge. Start the quest to receive the [Muddy Fire Spirit Contract]. Travel to 24, 72, drink the potion, and complete the task. Accept the follow-up quest.

Torn Shaman Note:

This quest item drops from slimes in The Hinterlands. Start the quest to receive the [Muddy Air Spirit Contract]. Travel to 51, 46, drink the potion, and complete the task. Accept the follow-up quest.

Soaked Shaman Note:

This quest item drops from Hadar the Deceiver in Azshara, around coordinates 21.2, 60.8. Start the quest to receive the [Muddy Water Spirit Contract]. Travel to 14, 49, drink the potion, and complete the task. Accept the follow-up quest.

After completing all four elemental awakening quests,

travel to Feralas

and kill water elementals on the west coast. Each quest requires you to collect three elemental essences and combine them with the specific elemental shard (Earth Shard, Air Shard, Fire Shard, and Water Shard) obtained when accepting the quests. Combine the shards with the essences to create Glowing Shards (Glowing Earth Shard, Glowing Air Shard, Glowing Fire Shard, and Glowing Water Shard) to complete each quest. Note that you can hold up to three elemental essences at a time.

Once all four elemental awakening quests are completed, a level 50 [Twilight Dark Shaman] will appear. Defeat it to obtain the rune.

Rune Effect: Gain the Riptide ability: Heals a friendly target for 634.911 to 691.098 and another 674.242 over 15 sec. Your next Chain Heal cast on that primary target within 15 sec will consume the healing over time effect and increase the amount of the Chain Heal by 25%. This spell also triggers Ancestral Awakening.

Travel to The Hinterlands:

Go to Jintha'Alor and kill elite trolls to obtain the [Wild Whisper Potion].

Travel to Razorfen Downs:

Clear the area around the “Amnennar the Coldbringer”. Drink the Wild Whisper Potion to summon the [Spirit of Agamaggan]. Talk to the spirit to receive a quest and the [Agamaggan's Roar]. Only one player needs to drink the potion to summon the spirit.

Complete the Dungeon Tasks:

Zul'Farrak:

Clear the area around Gahz'rilla and summon a spectral spider to call forth the [Enraged Ancient].

Maraudon:

Clear the area around Princess Theradras and summon a spectral raptor in the water to call forth the [Enraged Ancient].

Blackrock Depths:

Defeat all three bosses (including the Ring of Law). On the way to Bael'Gar, summon a spectral lizard to call forth the [Enraged Ancient].

Collect [Wild Offerings]: Each of the Enraged Ancients drops 1 [Wild Offering]. Return to the [Shadowfang Messenger]: Once you have collected all three Wild Offerings, go back to the Shadowfang Messenger at the Emerald Sanctuary to receive your rune.

Rune Effect:

Gain the Rolling Thunder ability: Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning have a 50% chance to add an additional charge to your active Lightning Shield, up to a maximum of 9 Charges. Earth Shock now releases all Lightning Shield charges above 3, dealing their damage to the target, and energizing you for 2% of your maximum mana per charge released.

Rune Location:

In Tanaris, Shamans should interact with the [Strange Totem] at coordinates 43, 41. This will transform you into Ghost Wolf form. You must quickly run to another [Strange Totem] at the end of the bone beasts without being hit. Successfully reaching the second totem will cause a small box to appear, from which you can obtain the rune.

Rune Effect: Gain the Static Shock ability: Your Lightning Shield now has 9 charges, and your melee attacks have a 12% chance (6% chance while dual - wielding) to trigger one of those charges, immediately damaging your target.

Rune Location: Activate the [Charged Totem] in Feralas at coordinates 60.0, 66.8. Stand near the totem and use Lightning Shield to kill nearby monsters. Once you have killed enough small monsters, a level 44 [Whirlwind Storm] will appear. Kill this monster to obtain the rune.

Rune Effect: Your Flame Shock now strikes up to 5 targets, gains 6 sec increased duration, and deals 100% increased damage. In addition, while you have Flametongue Weapon imbued on an equipped weapon, you gain 120 increased spell damage.

Rune Location: This rune requires Friendly reputation with the Emerald Wardens and costs 1 gold 60 silver to purchase.

Rune Effect: Dealing damage with Lava Lash or Stormstrike increases your Attack Power by 65% of your Intellect, and your spell damage by 20% of your total Attack Power for 30 sec.

Rune Location: In Tanaris, kill Wastewander Shadow Mages to obtain the "Encrypted Warlock Note" and Wastewander Thieves to obtain the "Wastewander Decoder". Combine these two items to create the "Decoded Warlock Note". Go to coordinates 58.0, 36.0 and look for a mysterious summoning scroll on the ground. When you hover over it with your mouse, you will see the name, but it will be non-interactive. Stand on the scroll and use the "Decoded Warlock Note" to summon an [Angry Voidwalker]. Kill it to obtain the "Rune of Insight" (this can be done by one person, with others in the party able to loot it as well).

Rune Effect: When you cast Chain Heal or Riptide you gain 2 charges of Tidal Waves, which reduces the cast time of your Healing Wave by 30% and increases the critical effect chance of your Lesser Healing Wave by 25%.

Rune Location: In Feralas, Shaman players should head to coordinates (76, 48) and loot a small box containing the "Rusty Key". Then, the player should go to (79, 49) in Feralas and loot the underwater Old Chest to obtain the rune.
