Phase 2 of The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary is coming this Spring. Expect Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep to drop alongside Arena Season 2, guild banks, and fresh daily content. While many players are still focused on Phase 1 farms, the groups that handle the basics early will grab first-week loot and avoid the usual launch scramble.
One of the best quality-of-life changes in the Anniversary edition is that raid attunements are now account-wide. Once your first character completes the full chain for SSC or TK, every character on your Battle.net account gains instant access. That single adjustment saves dozens of hours on alts.
Start the chains now while groups are still easy to form for Nightbane and Magtheridon. From past phase launches, the first couple of weeks bring the heaviest competition for those key drops.
SSC attunement begins inside Heroic Slave Pens once you're Revered with the Cenarion Expedition (to enter Heroics) and follow the quest from Skar'this. You'll need the Earthen Signet from Gruul's Lair and the Blazing Signet from Nightbane in Karazhan, then turn them in for Vashj's Mark.
TK attunement follows the longer Shadowmoon Valley questline (Cipher of Damnation), the four Trial of the Naaru heroic dungeons, and finally Magtheridon for the Tempest Key. For detailed steps, see our Ultimate SSC & Tempest Keep Prep Guide or Wowhead's TBC Attunement Guide. We also have solid breakdowns: SSC Attunement and TK Attunement.
Druids get a major mobility upgrade with the Swift Flight Form questline. It starts with Morthis Whisperwing in the Cenarion Refuge and ends with summoning Anzu inside Heroic Sethekk Halls. Completing it gives instant flight casting and the ability to herb while flying.
More importantly, it lets any attuned Druid summon Anzu daily for a chance at the rare Raven Lord mount—which still sells well months later. Non-Druids should encourage their guild Druids to finish this early; the open-world steps get camped hard once Phase 2 hits. Check our dedicated Swift Flight Form & Anzu Summon Guide for the full walkthrough.
Engineering players can train class-specific epic goggles directly from trainers in Honor Hold or Thrallmar as soon as Phase 2 drops. These require one Nether Vortex and basic mats, but for most specs they serve as strong early BiS helms until Tier 5 pieces become reliable. Hunters should usually skip the leather version to protect their Beast Lord 4-piece bonus. Full recipe and trainer details are on Wowhead's Engineering Guide.
New blue PvP off-pieces appear at the faction quartermasters. They offer decent starter stats for fresh 70s or alts and can fill gaps in early PvE on slots like bracers, belts, and boots. With Arena Season 1 points converting to honor soon, you'll have resources ready when the discount window opens.
Two daily factions launch with the patch: Ogri'la in Blade's Edge Mountains and Sha'tari Skyguard in Terokkar Forest. Skyguard dailies bring solid gold and the first non-engineering flying mounts (Nether Rays) at Exalted.
Many of those quests also advance Ogri'la rep, so you can progress both in one short daily loop. Ogri'la lets you infuse Apex Shards into BoE items—the Badge of Tenacity trinket is especially valuable for Feral tanks and flips quickly on the Auction House early on. Wowhead's Phase 2 overview covers the exact quests and rewards.
Resistance gear remains a quiet priority. Hydross the Unstable needs dedicated Nature and Frost tanks, Leotheras the Blind wants Fire resistance on the main tank (or a Warlock tank), and High Astromancer Solarian's raid-wide arcane damage makes the Violet Badge trinket from the Karazhan quest chain nearly mandatory for the group. Stock what you can afford now—prices tend to climb fast once raids go live.
Crafted gear follows the same pattern. Nether Vortex powers most new recipes, and the main supply comes from trash clears inside SSC and TK. Search “Nether Vortex" on Wowhead to preview the full list, then buy or farm reagents while they're still reasonable. Every phase has this consumable price spike in the first week; getting ahead here usually pays off.
Phase 2 preparation in TBC Anniversary hits the wallet harder than most players expect. Between epic flying, the new Engineering goggles, and the resistance gear required for SSC and TK, your gold reserves will vanish quickly. Based on current server trends, here is a realistic budget:
Budget / Bare Minimum (8,000 – 12,000 Gold): This is where most raiders should aim. It covers your Epic Flying (5,200g), basic resistance pieces, and enough consumables to survive the first few raid nights without feeling behind.
Comfortable / Recommended (15,000 – 25,000 Gold): This is where most raiders should aim. You'll have enough for your Epic Engineering Goggles (Nether Vortex mats are pricey), a full resistance set for Hydross and Leotheras, and a healthy stockpile of flasks before prices spike.
Aggressive / First-Week Edge (30,000+ Gold): The elite tier. This allows you to flip high-value BOEs, fully unlock guild bank tabs, and craft multiple BiS pieces on day one.
The biggest drain remains the 5,200g epic flying training. While Ogri'la and Skyguard dailies will help recoup some costs, smart players are stockpiling materials now to avoid the Phase 2 launch inflation.
These numbers are based on current server trends — high-population servers tend to be more expensive, while lower-pop servers can be noticeably cheaper.

Guild banks also arrive with Phase 2. If you don't have one, gather nine signatures and create a personal guild beforehand. The extra 98 bank slots for a small gold investment make storing mats and raid consumables much easier.
Complete SSC and TK attunements on your main (account-wide unlock for alts).
Gather materials and craft Engineering goggles if they're BiS for your spec.
Spend remaining Arena Points on discounted Season 1 gear before Season 2 conversion.
Stock resistance gear/consumables for Hydross and other bosses + Primal Nethers for crafts.
Start (or complete intro quests for) Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard for dailies and early rep.
Create or join a guild and buy the first few cheap guild bank tabs for storage.
Complete the SSC chain starting in Heroic Slave Pens (after Revered with Cenarion Expedition), collecting signets from Gruul and Nightbane. For TK, finish the Shadowmoon Valley questline, the four Trial of the Naaru heroics, and defeat Magtheridon. Once done on your first character, both raids unlock account-wide for your entire Battle.net account. Full steps are in our attunement prep guide and Wowhead's attunement overview.
Spend them in the short window right after the patch drops but before the Season 1-to-honor conversion—typically the first week. This lets you pick up discounted Season 1 pieces that still perform well in early Phase 2 PvE and PvP.
Yes. The chain takes several hours, and the open-world farming steps become heavily contested once Anzu summoning is available. Finishing it early also unlocks daily Anzu runs for the Raven Lord mount, which offers both prestige and reliable gold.
Only a few fights strictly require it: full Nature/Frost sets for Hydross tanks, Fire resistance for Leotheras (main tank or Warlock), and the Violet Badge arcane trinket for the raid on Solarian. Everything else can be handled as your group learns the encounters.
Stock now. Prices usually jump once organized trash farms start in SSC and TK. Most new crafted pieces depend on Vortex, so the early window is when you save or make the most gold.
Skyguard dailies generally pay better raw gold and unlock the Nether Ray flying mounts at Exalted. Ogri'la provides strong consumables and BoE infused items that sell quickly early on. Running both together is most efficient because many Skyguard quests also grant Ogri'la reputation.
Phase 2 finally moves the game past the Phase 1 content drought and rewards players who show up with attunements done, reagents stocked, and dailies ready. Knock out the key steps while things are still quiet—you'll feel the difference on launch day. Stay tuned to MMOJUGG for the latest on TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 2.
