Phase 2 dropped mid-May and the economy wasted no time showing its cards. The first full week delivered the usual post-launch chaos: consumables flying off the shelves, some materials crashing, and a few quiet opportunities still sitting there for players willing to look.
What surprised a lot of people was how hard herbs pushed, especially Terocone. Black Lotus more than doubled and held. At the same time, certain transmutes quietly became one of the cleaner daily gold makers if you have alchemists ready.
Herbs went crazy. Terocone outperformed Netherbloom even with the boosted drop expectations. That fed straight into potion prices across the board. Black Lotus climbed from around 45g to 85g and stayed elevated as raiders stocked flasks for Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep.
Primals mostly bled as expected after Phase 1, though Primal Mana held its own longer than most predicted. Leather stayed fairly steady. Ore and gems, however, refused to pop the way many thought they would once people started gemming fresh raid pieces. Bot activity in Steamvaults is clearly part of the story here.
Category | Movement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Herbs (Terocone lead) | Strong gains | Drove potion surge |
Black Lotus | 45g → 85g+ | Holding firm on raid demand |
Primals (most) | Down | Primal Shadow hit new lows |
Ore & Gems | Soft / stable | Heavy bot supply |
Enchanting Mats | Mixed, Greater Planar up | Large Prismatic relatively flat |
From what we've seen in past cycles, this consumable dump in the first 7-10 days of a new phase is almost predictable. The real question is how long the herb strength lasts before supply catches up.
One angle many overlook: while raw gathering feels saturated, reputation-gated crafts that turn cheap uncommon gems and specific primals into high-value cuts are bypassing a lot of that noise. That's where the Earthstorm Diamond play comes in.
If you have alchemists sitting around, this is one of the more reliable daily routines available right now. The 24-hour cooldown on Transmute: Earthstorm Diamond lets you convert accessible materials into a gem that jewelcrafters cut into Relentless, Powerful, or Bracing versions. Margins have been sitting in the 30-40g range on many servers after costs.
Getting the recipe is straightforward and cheap. Buy Unidentified Plant Parts off the Auction House, then turn in stacks of 10 to Lauranna Thar'well in Cenarion Refuge for Cenarion Expedition rep. You only need Honored. On most servers this runs well under 30g total and works on level 60 characters. The satchels you get back often contain vendorable herbs or food that help offset costs.

3 Shadow Draenite

2 Primal Water
Once you have the recipe learned across alts, the real advantage is how easily it scales with basic TSM mailing groups. Set up two simple groups—one for the primals and one for the gems. Configure mailing operations to send the exact amounts each character needs (usually 2 primals + 3 of each gem). Two button clicks later, materials are distributed. Log in, transmute, cut if you have a jewelcrafter, and mail the finished diamonds back to your bank alt.
Note that the recipe seller is actually Fedryen Swiftspear at Honored, but you still need to grind rep through Lauranna first.
It feels almost like a just-in-time supply chain. The whole process takes minutes once set up and removes most of the daily login slog.
Grab Unidentified Plant Parts in bulk from the AH and turn them in to Lauranna Thar'well (10 parts = 250 rep). Around 360 turn-ins from Neutral gets you there on most races. Open the satchels for extra sellable items. The whole thing is fast and works on nearly any level 60 alt.
Yes, especially while uncommon gems stay relatively cheap due to high supply. The finished diamonds and cuts hold value for raiders. Daily cooldowns across several alchemists add up nicely with low ongoing effort once your mailing groups are ready.
Watch for dips after weekend resets or big farming pushes. Primal Earth and Water tend to settle lower than Phase 1 peaks, and green/purple/yellow gems often soften during heavy supply periods. Set TSM alerts so you don't chase daily highs.
If the strategy gets too popular, diamond prices could soften over the next few weeks. You're also exposed to sudden AH spikes in plant parts or primals. Running some of your own herb routes or primal farms helps hedge against that.
Supply improved compared to pure node farming thanks to occasional procs, but raid consume demand keeps prices elevated. This supports the broader potion and flask market without flooding it.
Create separate groups for primals and gems, then set mailing operations to send exact per-character quantities. Sort your bags before sending to avoid errors. Test the amounts against the recipe once and you're set for smooth daily runs.
Early Phase 2 rewards players who watch herb momentum and use reputation crafts to sidestep some of the gathering saturation. The market will keep shifting, but these patterns have shown up enough times that smart positioning pays off.
