WoW SoD Phase 3: Dual Talent & World Buffs

Earlier yesterday, Blizzard unexpectedly announced on the official World of Warcraft website that Season of Discovery Phase 3 will soon launch.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 of the will officially go live globally on

April 4th at 1 PM Pacific Time

. Character levels will be raised to a maximum of 50, granting players an additional 10 talent points. The new 20-player raid will be The Temple of Atal'Hakkar, also known as the sunken temple, featuring redesigned boss battles after each reset. Phase 3 will finally introduce the long-awaited Dual Talent Specialization! When your character reaches level 40, you can find Grendag Brightbeard <Dwarf of Many Talents> and purchase Dual Talent Specialization for 50 gold coins. This will allow you to freely switch between two talent builds without having to pay the talent reset cost. With the ability to swap talents at any time, players will find it easier to switch between different roles (tank, healer, DPS), or even between two different talent configurations within the same DPS category.

World buffs from Gnomeregan will no longer be available

after level 49

. Similarly, the world buffs from Blackfathom Deeps will cease to be obtainable

after level 39

levels 40 to 49

. Additionally, the new PvE event and Gnomeregan raid will aid in leveling.

In the past two phases, defeating the final boss in a raid would drop a unique item, which upon submission would grant the Best-in-Slot necklace and a world buff to players in the main city. Phase 3 is no exception. In the datamining, we have discovered a new world buff:

Increases your chance to strike a critical hit by 5%, increases spell damage by 65, and increases all stats by 8%. Duration: 120 minutes.
