In WoW TBC Anniversary Phase 1 fresh servers (Dark Portal open Feb 5), Jewelcrafting rules the economy—prospect Fel Iron for rare gems flipping 20-50g each, cut Living Rubies for heroic sockets, and prep Phase 3 metas amid raid demand. Pair with Mining to slash 1-375 costs by 50%+ and dominate goldmaking.

Jewelcrafting is most efficient when paired with Mining. The ability to Prospect 5x stacks of ore into raw gems can slash your leveling costs by 40-60%.
Component | Details |
|---|---|
Best Race | Draenei (+5 Gemcutting racial) allows you to stay on cheaper recipes longer. |
Core Tools | Jeweler's Kit (for jewelry) and Simple Grinder (for gem cutting). |
Synergy | Alchemy (for Meta Gem transmutes) or Mining (for raw materials). |
Stockpile Primal Might on early phase. Once Phase 3 hits, server prices for meta gems often fluctuate; having your own transmute cooldowns provides a significant hedge against market crashes.
Focus on gathering Copper, Bronze, and Mithril. Prospecting Copper Ore is a "secret" way to get the Tigerseye and Malachite needed for early levels without touching the Auction House.
Skill | Craft | Qty | Materials Needed |
|---|---|---|---|
1-20 | Delicate Copper Wire | 20 | 40 Copper Bar |
20-30 | Rough Stone Statue | 10 | 80 Rough Stone |
30-50 | Tigerseye Band | 20 | 20 Tigerseye (prospect Copper Ore), 20 Delicate Copper Wire |
50-75 | Bronze Setting | 25 | 50 Bronze Bar |
75-80 | Solid Bronze Ring | 5 | 20 Bronze Bar |
80-110 | Ring of Silver Might | 30 | 60 Silver Bar, 30 Bronze Setting (saved) |
110-120 | Heavy Stone Statue | 10 | 80 Heavy Stone |
120-150 | Pendant of the Agate Shield | 30 | 30 Moss Agate (prospect Copper/Tin), 30 Bronze Setting |
150-180 | Mithril Filigree | 30 | 60 Mithril Bar |
180-200 | Engraved Truesilver Ring | 20 | 40 Truesilver Bar, 40 Mithril Filigree |
Buy Pendant of the Agate Shield from Jabbey in Tanaris or Neal Allen in Menethil Harbor. It is often the cheapest way to bridge the 120-150 gap.
This stage transitions from bars to heavy gem usage. Thorium is the primary gatekeeper here.
Skill | Craft | Qty | Materials Needed |
|---|---|---|---|
200-210 | Citrine Ring of Rapid Healing | 10 | 10 Citrine (prospect), 20 Mithril Bar |
210-225 | Aquamarine Signet | 15 | 45 Aquamarine (prospect), 30 Bronze Tube |
225-250 | Thorium Setting | 25 | 25 Thorium Bar |
250-255 | Red Ring of Destruction | 5 | 5 Star Ruby, 5 Thorium Setting |
255-265 | Truesilver Healing Ring | 10 | 20 Truesilver Bar, 10 Thorium Setting |
265-275 | Simple Opal Ring | 10 | 10 Large Opal (prospect), 10 Thorium Setting |
275-285 | Sapphire Signet | 10 | 20 Blue Sapphire (prospect), 20 Truesilver Bar, 10 Thorium Setting |
285-300 | Emerald Lion Ring | 15 | 30 Huge Emerald (prospect), 15 Thorium Setting |
If Large Opals or Blue Sapphires are overpriced on your realm, you can extend the Truesilver Healing Ring up to 270 or 275, even though it turns yellow.
Once in Outland, speak to Kalaen (Horde) in Thrallmar or Tatiana (Alliance) in Honor Hold.
Skill | Craft | Qty | Notes / Source |
|---|---|---|---|
300-305 | Delicate Blood Garnet | 5 | Trainer cuts |
305-315 | Fel Iron Blood Ring | 10 | 20 Blood Garnet, 10 Fel Iron Bar; Trainer |
315-325 | Azure Moonstone | 10 | 20 Azure Moonstone (prospect Fel Iron), 10 Deep Peridot; Trainer |
325-335 | Mercurial Adamantite | 10 | 40 Adamantite Powder (grind bars), 10 Primal Earth |
335-350 | Heavy Adamantite Ring | 15 | 15 Adamantite Bar, 15 Mercurial Adamantite |
350-365 | Runed Living Ruby (or other reds) | 15 | Prospect Adamantite; Trainer/Rep |
365-375 | Earthstorm/Skyfire Diamond (Meta) | 10 | Consortium Revered; Transmute cooldowns |
At 350, start cutting Runed Living Rubies. These are high-demand items for casters and can often be "flipped"—buying raw gems, cutting them, and reselling for a 20-50g profit per gem. Phase 1 prospect Fel Iron <1g/stack for gems flip.
Stock roughly 500 Copper/Bronze Bars via Mining. Prospect all ore for 20% free gems. Avoid the Auction House during "alt rush" periods (usually weekends) when prices inflate by 50%. The Mine → Smelt → Prospect → Craft loop is the most gold-efficient method.
Mining is essential for self-sufficiency. However, for endgame performance, Alchemy is a strong second for its Meta Gem transmutes. Enchanting is also viable to disenchant the rings and necklaces you craft while leveling to recoup costs.
Profitability spikes at skill 350. Cutting "Red" gems like Living Ruby (+9 Spell Damage or +20 Attack Power) provides a steady income. Additionally, Druids often seek Raven Goddess Idols, and all classes need Meta Gems for their Tier gear.
Basic cuts are learned from trainers. More advanced designs require reputation:
Consortium (Friendly): Draenite cuts.
Lower City/Sha'tar (Honored): Rare blue gem cuts.
Keepers of Time (Revered): Unique necklaces and Meta gems.
Yes. It allows you to learn the next tier of recipes 5 skill points earlier and keeps cheap recipes "orange" (guaranteed skill-up) for longer. Over the 1-375 journey, this can save you approximately 400-600 gold in materials.
Mastering Jewelcrafting in TBC Classic Anniversary secures your spot in heroic and raid groups while providing a reliable gold stream. Stay tuned to MMOJUGG for the latest profession deep-dives.
