War Plans are one of the biggest shifts to endgame in the Lord of Hatred expansion. Instead of grinding the same activity on repeat, you build custom playlists that chain Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, Undercity, Pits, and more while investing points into each activity's own skill tree. The trees then spawn extra events, stronger monsters, better loot, and occasional huge surprises like multiple mythics in one run.
What makes it click is the flexibility. Early on the board feels limited, but every completion grows your options and rewards. It's not account-wide yet, so you'll set this up on each character, but the payoff is worth it once you dial in your preferred loops.
Head to the Command Table in Temis after finishing the campaign. You pick a sequence of activities, complete them, and earn both immediate caches plus experience toward that activity's tree. Trees go up to level 7 and unlock everything from extra caches to unique portals and monster power boosts.
I've seen players hit four mythics in a single juiced Undercity run when the stars align with Pranksters and tribute chests. That's the kind of spike that keeps you coming back.
The smart move is matching activities to what your build handles quickly. Speed matters more than raw power in many cases because you'll chain several plans per session. Rerolls are limited per plan, so use them early to dodge bad combinations.
Tree of Whispers serves as a solid foundation. Extra caches, higher XP from globes, and occasional Resplendent Sparks make it reliable for early Paragon pushes. Adding ambushes, including Baron fights, gives you shots at greater affixes even in lower tiers.
Nightmare Dungeons shine once you invest in goblin portals and elite-kill events. Hitting 30 elites across runs can trigger Butcher summons or riches, and escalating sigils on Torment drop serious Obducite. Boss revives and +monster power add challenge but also reward density. The conviction buff from shrines and elites is quietly one of the best loot multipliers available right now.
Players who spread points too thin across every tree often miss the compounding speed that comes from doubling down on two or three activities that synergize well.
Helltides remain excellent for fast leveling. Maggot spawns, exploding Pangs of Duriel, and cinder preservation nodes turn risky runs into safe, high-XP farms. Profane mine cages let you temporarily crank overworld monster power for even more returns.
Kurast Undercity is currently the mythic and gold champion for most serious players. Invasion portals build attunement that explodes into XP globes, while activating beacons gives chances to summon Portal Pranksters — those rare goblins that seriously juice district boss tribute chests. Pairing this with Jade Epiphany nodes and talisman keys turns a single run into 20-30 million XP plus multiple Horadric Seals worth millions of gold each when sold.
Haven't defeated Mephisto yet? If you are struggling with the Echo of the False Prophet or simply missing the entry key, consider our Mephisto Carry Service where we provide the materials, or Buy Crux of the False Prophet Keys to challenge the Loot Hoard yourself.
The Pit stands out for pure efficiency. Heart of Stone makes monsters drop progression orbs that convert into massive XP, especially on dense packs like rat kings or spiders. Combine it with haste nodes for extra glyph upgrade chances and you can clear high tiers in under two minutes while pushing Paragon hard.
Lair Boss Nemesis Layers offer another layer of escalation with dual bosses and ultimate encounters that drop the equivalent of ten horde chests. Infernal Hordes? Most speed farmers reroll them for now — they simply take longer than the alternatives.
Undercity — Mythics + gold + XP
The Pit — Glyph levels + burst Paragon
Nightmare Dungeons — Loot volume and materials
Helltides — Safe, fast leveling
The beauty is you don't need to max everything. Focus points where your playstyle lives. One strong path right now is heavy Undercity investment for Pranksters combined with Pit nodes for Heart of Stone. You get fast clears, reliable mythics, and steady Paragon growth without burning out on longer activities.
Keep an eye on inventory — Prankster chests fill fast, and good loot filters become essential once you start converting junk gear to gold via specific nodes.
Finish the Lord of Hatred campaign and interact with the Command Table in Temis. Plans become available once you reach endgame Torment difficulties.
Heavy focus on Kurast Undercity with Prankster and tribute nodes, chained with Pits or Nightmare Dungeons. Multiple Pranksters in one run can triple your tribute chest value.
For most players chasing speed and efficiency, yes. They take significantly longer than Pits or Undercity. Reroll when possible until you specifically need their rewards.
You get personal caches and some activity XP, but full tree progression is individual for now. Future patches may improve this. Many groups rotate leadership or farm together for shared efficiency.
Reroll up to three times per plan if the activity mix is bad. Respec trees are cheap with gold, so adjust freely as your goals shift between XP, glyphs, or mythic hunting.
Optimized Undercity and Pit routes can net 20-30 million XP per short run. Players are hitting Paragon 200+ within the first few days by chaining these efficiently.
War Plans give real agency over how you spend your playtime this season, and the best setups keep evolving as more people test the edges.
