Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the launch of
Season of Discovery Phase 5 for World of Warcraft Classic, set to go live globally on
September 26 at 1:00 pm PDT. This phase brings a wealth of new content, including the highly anticipated Blackwing Lair and Zul'Gurub raid dungeons, along with new Tier 2 armor sets and a variety of other rewards.
Blackwing Lair
Nestled at the peak of Blackrock Mountain, Nefarian, the eldest son of Deathwing, continues his dark experiments. Players can now venture into a reimagined Blackwing Lair, a 20-40 player raid dungeon. This raid introduces new mechanics, including a swappable difficulty system that allows players to engage in greater challenges by activating raid-wide effects based on each of the five dragonflight's unique abilities. Although the raid is tuned for 20 players, it can accommodate up to 40, ensuring no raider is left behind. Players should be on the lookout for additional drops and rewarding discoveries.
Zul'Gurub
Deep within the jungles of Stranglethorn lies the ancient troll city of Zul'Gurub, a max-level raid instance for up to 20 players. This raid is tuned for 10 players but can accommodate up to 20. Players can earn updated and redesigned rewards, with new encounter mechanics and rewards for defeating Hakkar while all Zandalari Priests are alive. Defeating these priests grants access to buffs from powerful loa spirits like Hethiss and Shirvallah. Players will need to strategize their route through Zul'Gurub to maximize the effectiveness of these powerful spells.
Simplified Rune Acquisition
In Phase 5, many rune discoveries will be simplified to make them easier to obtain1. There will also be tokens added to the game for shared discoveries such as the Dark Rider Runes, so players won't have to repeatedly complete these on their alts1. While there won't be any new rune slots in Phase 5, the spirit of discovery will continue with item discoveries for every class1.
New Tier 2 Sets and Reworked Itemization
The new Tier 2 armor sets offer multiple variations for different talent specializations and playstyles, similar to the Tier 1 sets from the
Molten Core raid. These sets feature new appearances and increased stats, utilizing Tier 1 set bonuses, providing players with more options to fine-tune their gear and playstyle. Additionally, players can exchange Firelands Embers from the Blackrock Eruption event for elemental essences with Lokthos Darkbargainer in Blackrock Depths.
Vendor
Pix Xizzix
now offers new items, including Tier 2 bracer tokens for all classes and relics for druids, paladins, and shaman. These new rewards provide players with additional incentives to participate in the new content and enhance their characters
New Raid The Crystal Vale Raid
Fight Prince Thunderaan reimagined as a true world boss tuned for 20 players but allowing up to 40. This encounter is available to all players regardless of whether you're on the Thunderfury questline. Players can earn exciting new loot designed for all classes and specializations. Did someone say, “Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker?” You'll be able to earn this legendary weapon which has had a few additional improvements for Season of Discovery.
