On July 25th, the
World of Warcraft Season of Discovery officially released
Phase 4 raid Molten Core. The guild "none of the above" from the Living Flame server in Europe achieved the world's first clear on the highest difficulty (Difficulty 3), successfully defeating all bosses, including the newly added hidden boss, and finishing 45 minutes ahead of the second-place guild, "Btribe."
Molten Core has been reduced to a 20-player raid in the Season of Discovery with three difficulty levels. The highest difficulty requires high fire resistance (officially recommended at 226). While the quality of the loot remains unchanged, the quantity has significantly increased, and the weapons dropped have built-in transmogrification with special visual effects.
It is reported that the "none of the above" team was predominantly composed of casters, including a large number of mages, priests, and warlocks. They defeated the hidden boss on their first attempt. One key to their success was effectively monitoring the cooldown of the fire resistance trinket "Duke's Domain."
The revamped Molten Core is quite challenging, with high fire resistance requirements being essential even against weaker bosses like Lucifron. Many teams competing for the first kill experienced multiple wipes.
With the completion of Molten Core, the 11th boss has officially appeared. This boss is the essence of Molten Core itself, named The Molten Core, a massive fireball that rises from the surrounding lava a few minutes after Ragnaros is defeated.
The hidden boss only appears on Difficulty 3. It has 4 million health and cast spells like Fire Burst, Flare, and Meteor, dealing primarily fire damage. During the fight, it also summons fire elemental minions.
The hidden boss does not have exclusive loot. It drops random items other bosses can drop (the "none of the above" guild received a Maladath, Runed Blade of the Black Flight).
