The Harbinger system marks the dramatic return of the Ancients to Verra. These massive crashed vessels, scattered across the world thousands of years ago during the Apocalypse, are now awakening and spilling corruption everywhere. If you enjoy high-stakes open-world PvPvE with incredible rewards, this is the content you've been waiting for.

Harbingers are colossal rock-like structures that carried the Ancients (and their lords) from their dying world to Verra. Three currently exist on the Alpha-2 map:
Location | Biome Theme | Ancient Lord Flavor |
|---|---|---|
Turquoise Sea | Aquatic / Coral | Siren-themed |
Gundark Expanse | Desert / Arid | TBD |
Tanqual Highlands | Mountainous | TBD |
Each Harbinger permanently surrounds itself with a lawless (full-loot PvP) zone the moment you step inside the influence radius.
Phase | Objective | Group Size Needed | Key Mechanics |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Kill 500 corrupted Ancients | Raid (40–50+) | Clears the area, starts timer |
2 | Survive 3 increasingly hard waves through the Void Gate | Full raid | Wave 3 includes Ancient Lord adds |
3 | Defeat the zone's Ancient Lord (world boss) | Full raid | Grants entry to the Narthexes |
Bonus | Clear 3 pocket dungeons (Narthexes) | 2–3 groups each | Blood Horde Chests, 3-hour window |
Monsters inside the lawless zone drop:
Corrupted gathering materials (lumber, ore, stone, etc.)
Corrupted Excoria – upgrade reagent that “tars" normal gatherables into corrupted versions
Purification reagents – turn corrupted materials into any normal gatherable of matching rarity
Bosses and elite packs also drop some of the current best gear in Alpha-2.
Each Harbinger contains three separate Narthexes (small instanced-like dungeons). Highlights:
Extremely high mob density → perfect for fast farming
One Blood Horde Chest per Narthex guarded by a 3–4★ boss
Chest requires a 60-second channel
The moment you start channeling you receive the Blood Mark (1-hour global non-combatant flag removal)
Only one player can loot the chest — perfect setup for betrayal or enemy raid ambush
Teleporters inside connect all three Narthexes for quick PvP hopping
After 3 hours the entrances seal and lethal corruption gas fills the dungeons — get out or die
Intrepid is deliberately pushing the “dynamic, risky, player-driven" philosophy:
Permanent lawless zone creates natural PvP hotspots
Splitting your raid across three Narthexes is efficient but dangerous
Blood Mark mechanic extends the fight beyond the event area
Future plans include massive proper dungeons underneath each Harbinger (accessible via the same teleporters)
Once the server reaches a certain progression threshold, all three Harbingers become permanently active. No daily reset — they're always there waiting.
Technically yes, but the lawless zone and split Narthexes make it extremely hard. Expect constant contested farming and boss attempts.
Normal death penalties apply plus full loot for corrupters. If you have the Blood Mark, you stay attackable anywhere for the full hour.
As of the December 2025 PTR, organized raids are getting very close but no confirmed clean kill with full mechanics yet. Expect hotfixes and tuning before (and after) the 11 December live push.
Intrepid has hinted at additional crashed vessels being discovered as the story progresses, especially during future chapters of the Ancients arc.
Everything is fully tradeable. This is why guilds are already forming escort groups for the lucky channeler.
