This week's scheduled maintenance brought the first wave of promised class tuning to Chrono, and raid groups wasted no time putting them to the test in Molten Core. The results speak for themselves: several specs gained meaningful power, but none more than Fury Warriors.

What started as cautious optimism from the patch notes has turned into genuine excitement in the Warrior community. The buffs aren't just theoretical—they're showing up in real logs, pushing Fury from a middling melee option to a legitimate contender overnight.
The latest one-day Warcraft Logs data tells a clear story. Fury Warrior's DPS ceiling has rocketed from 16th place last week to a solid 8th, making it the second-highest melee specialization and the only one cracking the upper echelon.
Rank | Specialization | Key Observations |
|---|---|---|
1 | Affliction Warlock | Still untouchable at the top |
2 | Fire Mage | Consistent high performers |
3 | Survival Hunter | Mechanics favor ranged heavily |
4 | Unholy Death Knight | Strong scaling |
5 | Demonology Warlock | DoT dominance |
6 | Balance Druid | Mana-efficient burst |
7 | Shadow Priest | |
8 | Fury Warrior | Biggest gainer post-buffs |
9 | Enhancement Shaman | |
10 | Combat Rogue | Steady but unchanged |
Fury's rise isn't a fluke. The core 10% damage increase compounds beautifully as gear improves, setting the stage for even stronger performances in future phases. We're still early in the Warrior's glow-up—expect them to keep climbing.
Not every melee class got the same love. Rogues saw almost no movement in the rankings despite the tuning pass. The buffs primarily targeted single-target output, which doesn't align perfectly with Molten Core's heavy emphasis on AoE and trash clears. Add in the raid's punishing melee-unfriendly mechanics—positioning requirements, knockbacks, and cleave avoidance—and it's no surprise Rogues remain mid-table for now.
Phase 1's most coveted weapon, Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, finally started dropping consistently this week. Players across Chrono are getting their first real taste of the legendary in action, with logs showing 25 Warriors, 13 Paladins, and a single Death Knight wielding it in fresh clears.
The numbers paint a mixed picture. The top Sulfuras-equipped Fury Warrior posted an impressive 7,551 DPS—good for 4th on the Chinese server rankings and a 98% parse. Yet in the same raid, they were still outdamaged by a Survival Hunter and a Warlock. Even on Garr, a fight that should play to Fury's strengths, a 99% parse Warrior couldn't pull ahead of a similarly scored Hunter.
Class | Top Recorded DPS with Sulfuras | Overall Impression |
|---|---|---|
Fury Warrior | 7,551 | Competitive in melee, scales well |
Retribution Paladin | 5,977 | Struggling significantly |
Death Knight | ~6,600 (2H Unholy) | Underwhelming experimental use |
Across all logs, Sulfuras's flame proc averages just 96.8 DPS—about 1.28% of total damage. That's in line with pre-raid simulations, but the real issue is consistency. Trigger rates swing wildly between fights and even between players in identical setups. On Garr, one top Warrior saw the proc contribute a mere 0.56% of their damage.
Retribution Paladins are having the roughest time. Their highest logged performance with Sulfuras sits at 5,977 DPS, and testing shows their abilities trigger the proc less reliably than Warrior skills. Long cooldowns and burst windows that don't align with the weapon's internal timer leave Ret feeling left behind—many are openly calling for targeted buffs.
The lone Death Knight testing Sulfuras opted for a two-handed Unholy build, which doesn't play to the weapon's strengths. The result? Mid-6K DPS, below what a standard dual-wield setup achieves without the legendary.
We don't yet have meaningful logs for agility users—Feral Druids and Enhancement Shamans—with Sulfuras variants. As more legendary weapons enter circulation, expect the first real comparisons soon.
For now, the verdict is clear: Fury Warrior buffs are a resounding success and position the spec for long-term relevance. Sulfuras offers a nice boost to plate wearers but falls short of the game-changing impact many expected, largely due to unreliable procs. It's worth equipping if it drops, but don't bench a strong rare weapon chasing the dream just yet.
They're solidly upper-mid, ranking 8th overall and 2nd among melee. With gear scaling, they're poised for more gains.
Inconsistent proc rates are the main culprit. Even in best-case scenarios, it contributes only ~1.3% of total damage.
It's an upgrade and looks amazing, but the performance gap isn't massive. Use it if you get it—don't sacrifice raid spots chasing one.
Poor synergy: their abilities trigger the proc less often, and long cooldowns limit burst windows where the weapon shines.
As more drop for Ferals and Enhancement Shamans, logs should appear in the coming weeks. The community is watching closely.
