WoW SoD Phase 7 Fire Mage DPS Guide: Best Build

Hey, Azeroth's flamethrowers! Phase 7 of World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery kicked off on the 5th of March 2025, and Fire Mages have been on a rollercoaster ride - hyped as kings, then nerfed with an Ignite gut punch. But hold your arcane tears! After hours of slaving away in the sim labs, I've come up with a Fire Mage build that will have you topping the Naxxramas meters and laughing at the haters. We're talking talents, runes, gear, and a rotation that'll melt faces faster than a dragon's breath. Grab your staff and let's set Phase 7 ablaze!

Before you storm Naxx, gear up with this pre-Raid setup:  

Talents: Deep Fire (Incinerate, Pyroblast) with Frost Spray (Elemental Precision, Ice Shards, Piercing Ice). Flex points? Frost Channeling for mana or Improved Flamestrike for flair.  

Runes: Hot Streak (Head), Enlightenment (Chest), Belfire Bolt (Wrist), Living Bomb (Hands), Frostfire Bolt (Waist), Icy Veins (Legs), Spell Power (Feet), Overheat (Cloak), Fire/Frost Specialisation (Rings).  

Gear: Eight Sanctified pieces (Undead Purification + Dawn Amulet, Malefic Belt, Purification Belt), plus Enigma (shoulders/legs) and Vaulted Secrets set - no more Brood rep needed, just hit AQ!  

Shoulder Enchant: Elementalist Soul - 1% damage per school, stacks to 3 with Frostfire Bolt.

It's not chart topping yet, but it's your stepping stone to greatness.

Blizzard may have nerfed Ignite, but we're fighting back with a Frostfire twist.Here's the Naxx-ready build:  

Talents: Swap Flame Throw and Blast Wave for Shatter in Frost. Why? The Frostfire 6x bonus makes Ignite act as if targets are frozen - hello, crit city!  

Runes: Stick with Hot Streak, Enlightenment, Belfire Bolt, Living Bomb, Frostfire Bolt, Icy Veins, Spell Power, Overheat, Fire/Frost specialisation. Tried everything - these win.

Core Set: Frostfire 6-piece (head, chest, bracers, belt, boots, ring) - non-decaying Ignite + frozen target damage. Mix Enigma shoulders and legs for maximum DPS.  

Weapon: Atiesh (Legendary) or Soulseeker (Naxx) with +30 spell power.  

Neck: Malice Stone Pendant - replaces Gem of Trapped Innocence in Sims.  

Cloak: Cloak of Necropus - 1% over Veil of Darkness.  

Gloves: Cultist's Gloves (Karazhan Crypts) - farmable perfection.  

Rings: Frostfire Ring + Ring of Eternal Flame - fire friendly and low competition.  

Trinkets: Mind Quickening Gem + Restrained Essence of Sapphiron - crit and power spikes. (Mark of the Champion is an honourable mention for fighting undead.)  

Wand: Fingers of Doom - solid spell damage.  

Shoulder Enchant: Torturer's Soul - 3% fire damage per effect, up to 9%.

This combo is simulated to perfection - trust me, I've crunched the numbers.

Here's how to wield this fiery beast:  

Pre-Pull: Channel Evocation for the Frostfire buff.Opener: 

Living Bomb (builds Scorch Stacks) > Frostfire Bolt > Fire Bolt (on cooldown with macro).  

Cooldowns: Pop Icy Veins + Trinkets (Mind Quickening Gem), then spam Frostfire Bolt.  

Mid-Fight: Immediately use Hot Streak procs. After 3 fire effects (Living Bomb, Frostfire Bolt, Pyroblast), cast Belfire Bolt - drop Incinerate before the second cast.  

Maintain: Back to Frostfire Bolt, Pyroblast on cooldown and Living Bomb when effects drop.  

Burst: Cold Snap + Icy Veins again - time it for <20% HP or your next round of Frostbolt.  

Mana: Refresh Evocation if fights drag.

Keep 3 fire effects rolling (Ignite, Pyroblast, Frostfire Bolt) - reapply Living Bomb after Icy Veins if needed. Below 20%, Shatter turns you into a crit machine.

Despite the Ignite nerf, the Frostfire 6-Piece and Shatter synergy make this build a monster. Short fights (under 2 minutes)? You're untouchable. Longer ones? Warlocks may sneak up, but you'll still shine. The Enigma bonus and constant Ignite uptime keep your DPS pumping - it's a blast to play and a nightmare for bosses.
