Whether you're new to World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery or returning to the game, catching up in Phase 7 can be a daunting task. This guide aims to provide you with a checklist for getting your character up to speed, from leveling to equipment, so that you're ready for the challenges ahead, such as the Karazhan Crypts and Naxxramas.
Step 1: Runes and Abilities
Rune brokers: No need to adventure for runes; visit any major town or starting zone to gain access to all runes and spell tomes for just one copper. This is essential for both new and returning players to ensure they have all the skills they need.
Step 2: Catch up with the Tarnished Undermine Reels
Dungeons and raids: Tarnished Undermine Reels are your ticket to fast gear. From Blackrock Depths onwards, every boss will drop one, with a few exceptions dropping three. World bosses and certain raid bosses also drop reels, allowing for significant gear accumulation:
Dungeons: Blackrock Depths, Lower Blackrock Spire, etc.
World bosses: Onyxia, Kazzak, Azuregos, etc.
Raids: Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub.
Gear Exchange: Spend your reels on vendors to purchase tier 1 and tier 2 gear, which will help you tackle harder content such as Karazhan Crypts.
Step 3: Daily Karazhan Crypts (KCPS)
Attunement and Daily Runs: Once you have enough gear, attune to KCPS and run it daily for better gear. Even with tier 1 gear, attempting KCPS can be rewarding, though challenging.
Step 4: Consecrated Gear System
Undead Slaying Gear: For Naxxramas, especially the hard modes, you'll need the Sanctified Gear set:
Gloves: Available from the Argent Outfitter with Necrotic Runes.
Bracers: Can be bought from the auction house or dropped in KCPS.
Breastplate: Drops in KCPS or from Shadows of Doom during invasions.
Remnants of Valour: Collect these for the Seal of the Dawn, which increases the effectiveness of any piece of Sanctified equipment. Aim for 150 remnants.
Step 5: Invasions and reputation
Invasions: Participate in invasions for gear, runes and reputation. Invasion gear is essential for the first week of Naxxramas, especially on hard modes.
Reputation: Aim for Honoured with Argent Dawn to be attuned to Naxxramas.
Step 6: Community and Guild
Guild recruitment: Finding a guild can make your journey much easier. Many guilds recruit, offering not only camaraderie but also resources for equipment and learning content.
