In Path of Exile 2, trading is a fundamental aspect of the game, allowing players to exchange items, gear and currency to enhance their gameplay experience. However, a common barrier for many players is the cost associated with Premium Stash tabs, which are typically used to list items for sale. In this guide, we'll show you how to effectively trade and sell your currency and items using the in-game Currency Exchange feature, allowing you to save your Early Access currency for cosmetics or other uses.
Unlocking Your Hideout
Before you can start trading, you need to unlock your Hideout. If you're not sure how to do this, there are plenty of resources available, including tutorials on our channel, to guide you through the process without spending any real money. - Here is how to unlock your hideout.
Accessing the Currency Exchange
Once your hideout is unlocked, navigate to the NPC in the top left corner of your hideout. Look for the glowing indicator that indicates completed transactions. Click on 'Currency Exchange' to open the trading interface where you can manage your trades.
Understanding the Currency Exchange
The Currency Exchange in Path of Exile 2 works differently to the traditional trade site. Here's how to use it:
Place an order: Let's say you want to trade an Exalted Orb for seven Artificer's Orbs. You would select 'Exalted Orb' under 'I want' and 'Artificer's Orb' under 'I have'. If the market ratio is currently 2:15, but you only have seven Artificer's Orbs, you can place a 1:7 order. This order will be listed and waiting for someone to fulfil it.
Order fulfilment: Once someone accepts your trade offer, your order status will change from 'Listed' to 'Completed'.You'll see this in the exchange window, where the fulfilled currency will glow to indicate that it's ready to be collected in your inventory.
Collect your items:To collect your traded items, simply left-click or control-click on the glowing currency in the exchange window.This will transfer the items directly to your inventory.
Adjusting orders:If you decide to adjust your trade offer, for example to sell the remaining Artificer's Orbs at a different ratio, you can do so by cancelling the existing order and placing a new one.
Remember that each order costs 120 gold, so use your gold wisely.
Trading different items: As well as basic currency, the exchange also supports the trade of other items such as Soul Core, Omens, Runes, Essences and various endgame materials. This makes it a versatile tool for all players, especially those without Premium Stash tabs.
Advantages of using currency exchange
Avoids direct player interaction:No need to wait for other players to be online or respond to whispers, reducing the risk of fraud or non-response.Prevents fraud:As trades are automated and based on set ratios, there is no risk of receiving the wrong items (e.g. an Orb of Alchemy instead of an Exalted Orb).
Cost-effective: Saves you the cost of Premium Stash tabs, allowing you to spend your currency on in-game cosmetics or other enhancements.
