Trading in Path of Exile 2: A Guide

Trading in Path of Exile 2 (POE 2) can greatly enhance your gameplay, allowing you to upgrade your equipment or get rid of items you no longer need. Today, we'll take a look at the mechanics of buying and selling items, and I'll show you a nifty tool that makes it easy to check prices.

Buying items in POE 2

The primary currency for trading in POE 2 is Exalted Orbs. These can be earned throughout the game, and it's wise to keep a few on hand for trading. They're usually used to upgrade gear, but in the trading league it's often more beneficial to trade them for better items.

Access the trade website: Navigate to the Path of Exile 2 Trade website (I'll leave a link in the description for you to bookmark).
Log in with your POE 2 account details.
Make sure you're in the correct league, like "POE2 Standard" for most players.
Search for gear:
Select the item category; for example, if you're upgrading boots, select "Boots".
Filter by level to match or slightly exceed your character's level to ensure equipability.
Use stat filters to specify what you're looking for, such as movement speed, extra health or resistances. For example:
Movement speed: 25% or more
Maximum health: 60 or more
Resistances: At least 20% in two types (fire, cold, lightning)
Refine your search:
If your search returns too many results, adjust the filters to narrow your search to your budget or specific needs. You can set a maximum purchase price in Exalted Orbs.
Make the purchase:
Once you find an item you like, use the Direct Whisper feature to contact the seller.
When they respond, join their party, teleport to them and exchange your Exalted Orb for the item. Always check the details of the trade before accepting.

Selling items in POE 2

Setting up your shop:
Premium Stash tabs: You will need these to list items for sale. Buy them from the in-game shop, especially during sales weekends to get a better price.
Listing items:
Right-click on your Premium Stash tab to make it public and enable individual pricing.
Drag the item you wish to sell into this tab, right-click on it and set a price in the note using your preferred currency (e.g. 1 Exalted Orb).

When someone contacts you to buy an item:
Invite them to your party.
Remove the item from your stash.
Initiate a trade by right-clicking on their portrait and making sure they've made the correct payment.

Checking prices with Sidekick

Install it from the link in the description, making sure your game is in windowed mode for compatibility.
To check the market value of an item, hover over it in your inventory, hold Ctrl and press D. Sidekick will show you similar offers, helping you to set your price competitively.

Trading in POE 2 is a bit quirky with its reliance on external websites, but it's effective once you get the hang of it. Remember, patience is key; sometimes you may need to adjust your prices or wait for the right buyer.
