The New Race of Cataclysm Classic: Worgen

       by        Game: Cataclysm Classic Guide

The Cataclysm Classic version BETA of World of Warcraft Classic is set to go live according to the 2024 update plan. The pre-patch is scheduled for spring, and the official release is expected in June. However, due to the passage of time, most players have a vague memory of the Cataclysm Classic expansion. Therefore, MMOJUGG will continue to provide various aspects of Cataclysm Classic content. Today, we will focus on one of the important features of Cataclysm Classic, the new race introduced in the expansion - the Worgen.

1. Background Story:
The isolated human kingdom of Gilneas, under the shadow of the Greymane Wall, is plagued by a dreadful curse. Many strong Gilneans have been transformed into Worgen - terrifying half-beasts. The origin of this curse has been a subject of debate, but recent revelations have shed light on the truth. The Worgen are not creatures from some terrifying otherworldly realm but the victims of a curse inflicted by the Night Elf druids.

During a war between the Night Elves and demonic Satyrs, some druids used shapeshifting and tapped into the power of the wolf god, Goldrinn. Their leader, Ralaar Fangfire, taught the druids how to control their shapeshifting using an ancient artifact - the Scythe of Elune. However, instead of quelling their anger, this only turned them into Worgen, completely controlled by savagery.

Ralaar and his druids lost their sanity, attacking all living beings. They bit many Night Elves, cursing them to become Worgen as well. In an effort to stop the catastrophe, Malfurion Stormrage banished the Worgen to the Emerald Dream, where they slept for a thousand years.

The threat of the Worgen seemed to be eliminated until the Archmage Arugal awakened them from the Dream. He was acting on orders from Gilneas' King Genn Greymane, who sought to use the Worgen to fend off the Scourge invasion. However, the curse quickly infected humans, turning Gilnean soldiers into Worgen as well.

The Night Elves felt responsible for aiding the Gilneans, so they taught them how to control the curse using the Scythe of Elune, allowing them to freely shift between human and Worgen forms. Now, these Worgen have rejoined the Alliance as powerful allies, ready to fight for their country and humanity.

2. Starting Zone Plot:
In the starting zone, your goal is to find a way to cure the Worgen curse afflicting you. As you progress, you'll be sent to Gilneas to resist the Scourge invasion. As the quests unfold, you'll witness your homeland slowly being submerged by floods. The immense survival pressure leads to civil war among refugees, making this war-torn country even more turbulent.

However, in Gilneas, there are still some hopeful individuals who believe there must be a cure for the Worgen curse. But there are also those who have long given up, fearing that if the walls collapse, they will forever lose their humanity.

3. Racial Abilities:
The Worgen are a very unique race, possessing both human intelligence and wolf instincts. Their racial abilities reflect their wildness and adaptability, giving them formidable capabilities in combat and survival.

Darkflight: Increases movement speed by 40% for 6 seconds, with a cooldown of 3 minutes.
Viciousness: Increases critical strike chance by 1%.
Aberration: Reduces the duration of diseases and curses by 15%.
Skinning: Skinning skill increased.
In combat, Worgen can choose between human form and Worgen form, but once engaged in combat, they must remain in Worgen form.

4. Available Classes:
The Worgen belong to the Alliance and can choose from 8 classes. They enter combat in Worgen form, possessing formidable combat abilities.

Worgen can choose from Death Knight, Hunter, Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, and Warrior, but cannot select Shaman and Paladin.

Note: To create a Death Knight character for Worgen and Goblin, you must have a character of either race at level 55 or higher.
