Welcome back WoW fans! As we approach the start of Season of Discovery Phase 7, there's a lot to unpack, especially with the new gear system and Naxxramas updates. Here's everything you need to know to get ready:
Sanctified Gear System
Phase 7 introduces Sanctified gear, which is a significant change from previous phases. This gear not only boosts your stats, but also interacts with the new Seal of Dawn buff:
Buff Mechanics: Each piece of Sanctified gear you equip (up to 8 slots) increases your health and provides role-specific bonuses such as damage, healing, or threat.
Progression: The Seal of Dawn can be upgraded 10 times with Remnants of Valour, a currency earned from bosses in Naxxramas, Scourge Invasions, and Karazhan Crypts.
Where to get hallowed equipment:
Naxxramas: All gear inside, including tier sets, is Sanctified.
Outside of Naxx: Scourge Invasion events, Karazhan Crypts, and new quests in the Eastern Plaguelands will provide additional sources of Sanctified gear before the raid.
Pre-Raid Best In Slot (BiS)
With the introduction of Sanctified gear, your pre-raid BiS setup changes dramatically. For example, a Protection Paladin might look at:
Neck and rings from Karazhan Crypts and repeatable quests.A 3-piece set from Scourge Invasions, which adds +2 to your Sanctified count and helps you reach the 8 slot cap.
Naxxramas Hard Modes
Naxxramas has been streamlined into 5 difficulty levels, each activated by empowering a wing's pylon:
Hard Mode Activation: Each activated pylon increases raid-wide damage and health, with the toughest encounters requiring all four to be activated.
Tank Challenges: Higher difficulties introduce debuffs that make tanking more challenging, reduce dodging, and increase chance to hit.
New mechanics:
Encounter Adjustments: Encounters such as Instructor Razuvious and The Four Horsemen have been tweaked to be less comp-dependent, making them more accessible in the Season of Discovery environment.
Community feedback and developer response
The community has mixed feelings about these changes. While some appreciate the new challenges and gearing options, others feel it's a little too "retail" for classic WoW. However, the developers have been responsive to player feedback, adjusting mechanics such as reducing the Sanctified Gear cap from 12 to 8 based on community input.
Thanks for reading
Phase 7 of the Season of Discovery brings the new Sanctified gear system and revised Naxxramas challenges. Gear up from multiple sources before tackling the raid's new difficulty and encounter adjustments. As we get closer to launch, keep an eye out for more testing sessions on the PTR that may refine these systems. The success of Phase 7 will largely depend on how well Naxxramas is fine-tuned and how bugs are dealt with upon release.
