If you're tired of group grinds and want to stack Scourge Stones for Naxx Rep or Enchantments at your own pace, this guide is for you. We'll hit Stratholme's service entrance to grind 15 stones an hour - fast, efficient and Rogue-approved. Let's slip into the shadows and get to work!
Why go solo as a Rogue?
Phase 7 introduced a vendor near Light's Hope Chapel who sells Shoulder Enchants for Argent Dawn Valor Tokens (earned through Scourge Stones). With the right equipment - think 4-piece Nightslayer and the Bloodthirsty enchantment - you can solo bosses like Bisaan and The Unforgiven for stones, loot and gold. It's a perfect mix of stealth, stabbing and self-reliance. Plus, who doesn't love outsmarting the undead?
Step 1: Gear and preparation
You don't need BiS to pull this off, but here's what helps:
4-piece Nightslayer set: 50% reduced magic damage on vanish (Bloodthirsty Enchantment bonus).
2.5 tier set bonus: 15% healing from Sinister Strikes.
Nightslayer boots: Cheap stealth speed boost (about 5 gold on AH).
Master of Deception (1+ point): Eliminates the detection of pesky corpses.
Set your hearth to Light's Hope Chapel for quick resets. Throw in a Vial of the Old Gods or Elixir of Mongoose if you're feeling fancy - they'll smooth out any rough patches.
Step 2: Sneak into Stratholme
Head to Stratholme's service entrance (live side). Sneak in, keeping your distance from the mobs. Watch out for:
Patrolling ghoul (left side): Distract it or it'll spot you.
Abomination patrol: Time your move as it lumbers by.
Supply crates: Avoid these - they'll grief you if you're sloppy.
Hug the right wall, dodging two more ghouls. Use Distract to turn NPCs inwards, especially near the crate pile - the corpses here see through stealth like hawks. Sprint past if your time is short, but save it for emergencies.
Step 3: Boss 1 - Bisaan
Position yourself behind Bisaan (lower area). Disarm the nearby supply crate first - it's a trap waiting to ruin your day. Open it with:
Garrote or Sinister Strike.
Slice and Dice → Maim Gouge.
Build to 4-5 combo points → Blade Dance.
Vanish or Evasion when Frostbolts fly (pop Evasion if he melees).
Bisaan drops 2 Scourge Stones (3 on first daily kill), as well as Roles and Epics worth 1-6 gold. Watch out for the Eyes of Naxxramas - kill them quickly or the Gargoyles will destroy you.
Step 4: Patrolling Ghouls
While you wait for the cooldown, kill the two patrolling ghouls. No fancy CDs needed - just keep up the Slice and Dice and basic attacks. If they get angry, throw a Kidney Shot (3+ combo points) or Gouge to cool them off. Each will drop a stone to pad your loot.
Step 5: Boss 2 - The Unforgiven
For the third stone, face The Unforgiven. Wait for the large Abomination patrol to pass by - pull too early and he'll disappear into the dungeon, leaving you empty-handed. Then distract his adds:
Sinister Strike → Slice and Dice.
5-point Blade Dance.
Evasion (he melees hard) + all CDs.
Health pot when you're low - he's a slugfest.
He drops a stone (rolls on first kill), but his Frost Nova stings. Burn him quickly.
Step 6: Reset and repeat
Slip out (use a hearth macro if mobs are thick) and reset. With a 60% mount and Carrot on a Stick, it's a 2 minute, 20 second ride back. You'll get 15 stones/hour, 45 gold/hour from vendor loot, and 3 shoulder enchants if you cash in.
Bonus hint: Safety Nets
Health potions: A must for low level equipment.
Restorative Potion: Removes the ghouls' nasty 25% damage/speed DoT.
Distraction Timing: Practice makes perfect - one bad roll means a trip to the graveyard.
