Phase 8 of the Season of Discovery is almost here, bringing a treasure trove of new content to World of Warcraft. From the fiery chaos of Light's Hope Chapel to the shadowy Scarlet Enclave raid, there's plenty to unpack. Whether you're a fresh 60 or a grizzled veteran, this guide has everything you need to hit the ground running when the patch arrives on 10 April 2025 (just two days away!). If you find this guide helpful, feel free to bookmark our site for future WoW adventures - and maybe stop by our WoW Classic Gold Shop to fuel your journey. Let's get to the good stuff!
Before Phase 8 hits, head to Stratholme and tackle “Houses of the Holy” to grab five holy waters. This will unlock the Scarlet Activities quest chain in Light's Hope Chapel - a must for new characters. It's your ticket to the Phase 8 questlines and the Scarlet Enclave attunement. Pro tip: Do it now on the live servers to beat the crowds on launch day. Bonus? You'll get a disguise and some fancy new trinkets.
Light's Hope Chapel: Dragon Drama Once Phase 8 kicks off, Light's Hope is about to get hot. A dragon attack sets the chapel ablaze, sending downed trees and firefighters scrambling for cover. It's a cool little detail that makes the world feel alive - stick around to see it unfold after you've completed the starter quests.
Head southeast of Corin's Crossing to the Scarlet Base Camp, just east of Lake Mereldar. Here, after a few quick quests, Josephine will hand out disguises - essential for sneaking into New Avalon and the Scarlet Enclave raid up the hill. The raid portal is locked for now, but the camp is your staging area. Oh, and that campfire? Purely decorative - no cooking allowed, unfortunately.
Mastering the Disguise Game
The Scarlet disguise is your VIP pass in Tier's Hand and New Avalon. Equip all four pieces (dropped by mobs in New Avalon) to avoid aggro - mobs won't touch you unless you swing first. Watch out for Plague Dogs though; they sniff through stealth and disguises with a massive aggro range. Log out in a safe place (like the castle roof) as the buff drops on relogging - don't get caught with your pants down by a sneaky exploit fix!
New Avalon: Profession Paradise
New Avalon's a hub of activity. Every profession has a building - tailoring, blacksmithing, leatherworking, you name it - although some doors are still locked (keys, where are you?). Pet Puppy the dog at the inn for a sweet buff, pay 5 gold for access to the kitchen, and visit the quartermaster for weekly quests. Turn in a crate containing any piece of gear for a loot box full of orbs, Blood of Heroes and cooking mats - plus a shot at a Crusader's Chalice for tier gear upgrades.
Weekly Quests & Tier Gear
The quartermaster's your go-to for tier sets. Pair a piece of Scarlet gear with a Crusader's Chalice from the weekly loot box, and bam-new tier goodness. The sets look sharp and pack a punch, so don't sleep on them. Bonus: The Scarlet Stash Bank will keep your loot safe while you're at it.
Profession Perks & Puzzles
Enchanters, head to the mage tower for a fun puzzle—worth solving for the rewards (and bragging rights). Leatherworking and Cooking quests can be found around Hearthfire and the pirate ship docks, while Blacksmithing can be tied into Ashbringer crafting later on (datamined legendary bits, anyone?). Plus, a professional scribe can recover lost recipes - handy if you switched professions and want that cute tailor bag back.
Rare Spawns & Hidden Gems
Keep an eye out for a neutral auction house pirate at the docks—he's a rare spawn with mysterious vibes. There's no telling what he's up to, but he's worth a chat if he shows up. Mayor Quimby also hangs around and gives a speech straight out of the DK Starter Zone - fingers crossed he updates with kill counters or weekly stats!
Tarnished Undermine Reals: Catch-Up Time
Down in Booty Bay, the Tarnished Undermine vendors are back. Reels now stack to 250 (up from 150), making it easier to catch up. Grab BWL weapons for 150 reels or grab Tier 1 pieces - no new crates yet, but stockpile Blood of Heroes and Righteous Orbs for gold-making glory when the phase drops.
Gold-Making Prep
Speaking of gold, get ahead by hoarding Blood of Heroes, Righteous Orbs, rugged leather, and runecloth. Cured thick hide is also in play (not rugged - Blizzard is keeping it old school). With the patch so close, now's the time to stock up and cash in when demand spikes.
