PoE 2: Viewer Crafting - The Big Gamble!

by        Game: Path of Exile 2 Guide        Tags: PoE 2 Viewer Crafting

Introduction In this Path of Exile 2 session embarks on a high-risk, high-reward experiment, using 575 Stellar Amulets and an equal number of Chance Orbs to attempt to craft valuable items, specifically targeting Estrus or other notable upgrades. This quest showcases the risk inherent in PoE2's crafting system, where RNG dictates success or failure.

Experiment Details

Investment
Stellar Amulets, costing a total of 121 Divines
Chance Orbs worth 31 Divines
Total cost of 52 divines
Aim
To turn these items into something more valuable, with the ideal outcome being an Estrus, which at the time of the video was priced at around 160 Divines uncorrupted.

Process and results

Using the Chance Orb
The experiment begins by using Chance Orbs on Stellar Amulets in the hope of hitting a rare or unique item.
Many results result in Yix Amulets, which are essentially vendor junk, along with other less valuable items. Lon Cake adds entertainment by drawing funny faces with the results, engaging the audience with the randomness of the process.
A highlight is getting a mid-roll Estrus, which gives a modest 6-7 Divine profit, giving a glimpse of what's possible with the right RNG.
Using Vaal Orb
Amulets: An amulet with promising base stats is corrupted, unfortunately only reducing physical damage by 4%, which is considered a poor result.
Helmets: Multiple attempts to corrupt helmets will produce a mix of results. Some will become rare items, while others will turn into unique helmets such as the Horns of Biden or the Wings of Kalin, with varying degrees of usefulness or value.
One helm turned into an Unwavering Stance with skill effect duration and AOE, considered a cursed helm due to its limiting nature.
Another helm transformation resulted in a Crown of Thorns, a less desirable outcome.
Jewels: There have been attempts to corrupt adorned jewels to increase their stats, but the majority of rolls are either completely useless (bricked) or offer small benefits that don't justify the risk.
One jewel gained +5 Intelligence, which was positive, but most others either lost mods or became less effective.
Shields: Attempts to upgrade shields result in a spectrum of outcomes from no change to a maximum roll on the energy shield, showing the potential for high variance in results.
One shield got a 478 roll for nothing, another got a 586 increased energy shield, but several others got no significant improvement.
Special cases
Queen of the forest: Several attempts are made to improve this unique armour by lowering the dodge requirement for its movement speed bonus.
Only one roll was somewhat successful, with an evasion of 470, still not ideal as the perfect roll was considered to be 390.
Other rolls either increased the dodge requirement or added less desirable stats such as local dodge or spine damage.
Chaotic Wukong & Astrus: Corrupting these items has mixed results.
An Astrus gains an extra socket and some stat boosts, which is considered a good result.
Another attempt on Astrus resulted in 11 Dexterity, which was beneficial for stat stacking.

Result Analysis

Gain/Loss: While there are moments of gain, such as the Estrus roll, the session is largely characterised by the unpredictable nature of the RNG, with most outcomes being less than ideal or outright losses.
Conclusion This session highlights the gambling nature of crafting in Path of Exile 2, where significant investments can result in either substantial gains or losses. It serves as a vivid demonstration of how the RNG can make or break crafting attempts, offering lessons in patience, strategy, and sometimes luck of the draw. Despite the financial ups and downs, the session was an enjoyable exploration of the game's mechanics and a testament to community engagement through shared gaming experiences.
