In Path of Exile 2 (PoE2), the Currency Exchange is your trading system for exchanging items with other players. This guide will show you how to use this feature, which becomes available once you've advanced to Act 1 Cruel after completing Acts 1-3 in Normal mode.
Prerequisite: You must have completed Acts 1-3 in Normal mode and started Act 1 in Hard mode.
Location: Talk to Finn in Act 1 Cruel and you'll find an option for 'Currency Exchange'.
How the currency exchange works
Trade interface: This is not for NPC trade; it's strictly player-to-player. It works similarly to an auction house, where you can place and fulfil orders based on market supply and demand.
I want: Click to select the currency or item you want.
I have: Click to select what you're offering in exchange.
Once you've selected what you want and what you're offering, the 'Market Ratio' will be displayed. This shows you how much of the currency you are offering is needed for one unit of the currency you want, based on current market rates.
Example: If you want Regal Orbs and are offering Transmutation Orbs, the ratio could be 1 Regal Orb for 55 Transmutation Orbs.
Confirm the amount by clicking in the number boxes for both 'I want' and 'I have', then click away to fix the values.
Gold cost: There is a gold charge for placing an order, which is non-refundable. For example, trading a Divine Orb might cost 1,000 gold.
As soon as you click 'Place Order', if there's an immediate match, you'll see 'Order Completed' and can claim your items by clicking on them to move them to your inventory.
If there's no match, your order will be 'Listed', waiting for someone to fulfil it.
If you try to trade for something that has no current market demand (No Stock), your order may never be completed. The interface will show no quote, indicating very little or no interest in the trade.
If you need to cancel an order, click the 'X' next to your listed item and return the item to your inventory.
Start small: Start trading less critical items such as runes to get used to the system.
Avoid risky trades: Don't jump into high-stakes trades until you're familiar with how the exchange works, as you risk losing valuable items.
The currency exchange in PoE2 is an effective way to trade currencies and items with other players. With practice, you'll be able to master the system and improve your gameplay by buying what you need for your build or selling surplus items.
