Path of Exile 2 Currency Mastering Guide

by        Game: Path of Exile 2 Guide

Hello, exiles! Welcome to the intricate world of Path of Exile 2, where understanding the currency can make or break your journey. Let's break down how to use your currency wisely, and even how to acquire it.

Orb of Transmutation - Your Starting Point

The Orb of Transmutation is your first step in transforming a normal (white) item into a magical (blue) item. Think of it as your gateway to crafting. For example, I often use it on rings or boots, looking for bases such as Topaz Rings or Expert Wrapped Sandals. This orb adds a prefix or suffix, setting the stage for further enhancements. Remember, a prefix enhances the stats before the item's name, while a suffix enhances the stats after the name.

Orb of Augmentation and Regal Orbs - Building on Potential

After transmuting an item, you can use an augmentation orb to fill the empty slot with another modifier, balancing your prefix and suffix. If the item shows promise, a Regal Orb can make it rare, adding randomness but also potential value. For example, if I find a scepter with +4 to minion skills and good mind stats, I'm keen to use a Regal to see where it might lead.

Exalted Orbs - For the Promising Gear

Once you've got something usable, Exalted Orbs come into play for fine-tuning. They add modifiers to rare items that can be crucial to optimising your gear. Use them sparingly, though; they're not for items that don't fit the needs of your build.

Chaos Orbs - The Gamble

Chaos Orbs are your jokers. They re-roll all modifiers on an item, which can be a double-edged sword. I use them when an item is almost perfect but lacks a crucial stat, such as movement speed on boots. It's a gamble, but sometimes it's the only way to get that last piece of the puzzle.

Divine Orbs - For the advanced crafters

For most new players, Divine Orbs are better sold or traded for gear upgrades. They adjust the numerical values of an item within its tier boundaries, which can be game-changing for certain items such as the Ingenuity Belt or the Maxoto Shield. Unless you're following a detailed build guide, however, selling them might be your best bet.

Orb of Annulment and Omens - Precision Crafting

Although similar to Chaos Orbs, Orbs of Annulment are typically used with Omens, which can target the removal of a prefix or suffix. This precision is invaluable, but rare. As a new player, focus on understanding the needs of your build before diving into this level of crafting.

Orb of Chance - A bit of fun

Orb of Chance are for those who love the thrill of randomness. They can turn normal items into unique ones, but not all items are eligible. For example, boss-specific uniques can't be chanced. Keep an eye out for popular items such as Stellar Amulets and Sapphire Rings.

Vaal Orb - The final touch

Vaal Orbs are your last resort for items you're happy with, but would like to improve upon. They can add sockets or corrupt an item, and are often used when I have a side-level or backup gear. Remember that corruption can be unpredictable, so use with caution.

Mirror of Kalandra - The Ultimate Copy

Mirrors are extremely rare and valuable, used to duplicate perfect items. You're unlikely to use one as a new player, but understanding their value is part of the game's economy.

Lesser, Greater, and Perfect Jeweler's Orbs - For Your Gems

Early on, use Lesser Jeweler's Orbs to potentially increase the number of sockets or link quality, which can be crucial for supporting your main skills. Later on, Greater and Perfect Jeweler's Orbs become more important for optimising your primary gems.

Gemcutter's Prisms - Enhancing Your Skills

These prisms add quality to your gems, greatly increasing their effectiveness. Use them on gems that directly affect the damage or utility of your build, such as Flammability for an additional curse effect.

Flask Quality and Rarity

For flasks, once you're happy with your build, use Glassblower's Baubles to improve their quality. Similarly, Armourer's Scraps, Blacksmith's Whetstones, and other specific orbs can improve the quality of your gear by increasing base stats such as Energy Shield or Dodge.

Artifacts and Essences

Artifacts can add sockets or improve stats, but they come with a risk. Essences are great for adding specific modifiers; for example, using an Greater Essence of Torment on physical weapons for a strong physical damage roll.
