Path of Exile 2 0.2.0: Gems, Huntress & Reset

by        Game: Path of Exile 2 Guide

Grinding Gear Games is stirring the pot with Path of Exile 2 patch 0.2.0, and the teaser train is rolling full steam ahead. With a countdown ticking on poe2db and an expected drop date of 22 March 2025, this update is packed with new toys, a slick class and a full economic wipe. Let's break down what's got the community buzzing, mixing some spicy takes with the juicy details from the latest teasers - because who doesn't love a little chaos with their coffee?

Weapon swapping: Less fumbling, more power

First up, the weapon swapping system is getting a makeover. Originally, swapping between weapon sets and changing passives mid-fight sounded like a dopey, instantaneous switch from cold damage to lightning damage. The reality? It was a pain. Paying for two top-tier weapons - or worse, duplicates - was a budget nightmare.
Now you can lock one or both equipped items when you swap. Keep that trusty shield or focus steady while you tweak your passives or weapons. GGG calls it quality of life, but let's be honest - it's a power boost. Got a corrupted Mahalia's Ministration with three Soul Core slots? It's about to become your MVP. It's a tweak for tinkerers who live for mid-battle flexibility.

Battery Shout: Build it and they'll explode

The Batter Shout support gem is a joker that begs for experimentation. Imagine a war cry with a 130% cost multiplier that can't shatter armour itself, but instead triggers explosions from completely shattered enemies. The damage? A hefty 50% of the broken armour - think 1,000 physical damage from 2,000 armour - plus 4% more damage per 50 Strength. The catch is a tight 2-metre radius and no love for Warbringer's overbreak shenanigans.
It's niche, sure, but stack some Strength and prepare those armour breaks and you've got a pack-clearing beast. Not everyone's cup of tea, but the mad scientists among us are already planning builds around it.

Perfection: Timing is everything (maybe)

Then there's Perfection, a support gem with wording so vague it's sparked a mini-debate. It ties into the Perfect Timing mechanic: nail your skill timing, stack up to three Perfection buffs (6 seconds each), and grab 5% more damage per stack. Miss once - anywhere - and poof, all your stacks disappear.
Does this 15% damage buff only apply to supported skills, making it dead on arrival? Or is it a global character buff that boosts everything you do? The lack of clarity suggests the latter, much like Innervate from PoE 1. If so, it's a clunky but effective way to boost your main skill after a timing streak. GGG will probably drop an FAQ to clear this up - stay tuned.

The deepest tower: Low-Life King & Act 4 Tease?

The unique Deepest Tower (a Spiritbone Crown) is turning heads. Enemies near you count as Low Life, which syncs with a massive 240% increased hit damage cluster on the passive tree (5:00-6:00, halfway out). Throw in some lucky damage and it's a low-life build's dream. Oh, and it's an Act 4 base - could this mean that Act 4 drops at 0.2.0? It's a tasty theory to chew on while we wait.

Huntress joins the fray

Confirmed by Viperesque, the Huntress is the new kid on the block. This spear-wielding, nature-loving warrior mixes melee and ranged vibes - think predator meets precision. She's been in the oven for a while, so expect a polished debut that will tempt fresh characters out of the gate.

Economy reset: Back to square one

With major content and balance changes, 0.2.0 brings an economy reset. Prior to launch, your progress - characters, lairs, maps - will be reset to legacy leagues: Standard to Early Access Standard, Hardcore to Early Access Hardcore. When the patch hits, new Standard and Hardcore leagues start from scratch. No currency, no items, just pure, unadulterated opportunity. It's a grinder's paradise and a chance to rethink everything.

Why you should care

This patch is a playground for Path of Exile 2 fans. The Huntress and Weapon Swap tweaks cater to playstyle junkies, while Batter Shout and Perfection challenge you to get creative. The Deepest Tower hints at story expansion, and the reset levels the playing field for everyone. Whether you're a theorist or a looter, there's something here for you to sink your teeth into.
