Starting the Riding Questline: Unlocking Your Mount
Begin the Questline in Everfall:
Head to the northern part of Everfall and locate the Riding Skill Vendor (this is also the NPC that initially grants you your mount).
After completing the preliminary quest to receive your mount, speak with the vendor again. They will provide a series of racing quests in the Everfall region.
Complete all five races in this area. Each race contributes a chunk of experience to your Riding Skill, so you'll want to finish all of them.
Complete Races in Everfall:
Each race has checkpoints scattered around the area, guiding you from start to finish. These checkpoints are timed, so focus on reaching them quickly to get the best completion times.
After completing all five races, return to the vendor in Everfall to turn in the quests.
Receive the Next Location: Weaver's Fin:
The vendor will now direct you to the second Riding Skill NPC in Weaver's Fin.
Travel to Weaver's Fin and locate the NPC. Here, you'll be given another set of five race quests.
Finishing Races in Weaver's Fin:
Complete these five races in the same way, navigating through the checkpoints in a timely manner.
As with the races in Everfall, finishing these provides another significant boost to your riding skill.
Once done, return to the Weaver's Fin NPC to turn in your quests, which will open up the next location for your questline.
Advancing to Higher Riding Levels: Great Cleave and Brimstone Sands
Head to Great Cleave for More Quests:
After completing the races in Weaver's Fin, the NPC will direct you to a new vendor located in Great Cleave.
The first quest in Great Cleave involves unlocking cages to free captured wolves. This is a departure from the usual races but still contributes to your riding skill.
Complete this task, and the NPC will provide you with another five race quests in the Great Cleave region.
Finish Races in Great Cleave:
Follow the checkpoints for these races, completing each within the set time limits.
After finishing the five races, you will significantly increase your riding skill, approaching Level 200 or surpassing it.
Move on to Brimstone Sands:
Once you're done in Great Cleave, the vendor will direct you to Brimstone Sands, where another vendor awaits with five additional race quests.
Complete all five races in Brimstone Sands and turn in the quests with the vendor.
Final Push to Level 200 Riding Skill: Elisian Wilds
Finish Up in the Elisian Wilds:
By this point, your Riding Skill should be close to or over Level 200.
However, the final location, Elisian Wilds, allows you to push your riding skill to the highest levels (around 250).
Complete any remaining races here to fully maximize your Riding Skill and achieve the fastest possible mount speed.
Important Tips for Maximizing Riding Skill Quickly
Feed Your Mount:
Your mount can receive up to three vitals per day. These boosts improve your mount's stamina and contribute to its speed and recovery, especially when traveling long distances.
Always feed your mount the highest-quality vitals you can access. These will yield the best performance and keep your mount in peak condition.
Track Progress Closely:
Keep an eye on your Riding Skill level as you progress. Certain checkpoints within the questline might allow you to focus on higher-level content sooner if you're already nearing Level 200.
Prepare for the Long Haul:
Completing this entire series of quests may take up to two hours, depending on how quickly you finish each race and quest objective. Plan accordingly to make the process as smooth as possible.
Optimize Inventory and Gear:
Traveling light ensures your mount has the least amount of drag and strain, allowing you to complete races more quickly. Equip items that boost stamina or speed if possible.
By following this guide, you'll be able to unlock the maximum speed for mounts in New World: Aeternum, giving you a major advantage in both PVE and PVP activities that require rapid movement across large distances. Enjoy the faster travel and enhanced gameplay!
