Getting Started: Visit the Pumpkin Head Cauldron
When you log in during the Halloween event, the first thing you should do is head to any main settlement. In the center of these settlements, you'll notice a pumpkin head icon on your map. This marks the location of the event's starting point: a giant bubbling cauldron. Next to the cauldron, you'll meet VOR, the NPC, who will offer you a quest that will set the stage for your journey through Night Veil Hollow.
The Quest: Slay Bazu, the World Boss
VOR's quest will send you to hunt down Bazu, a powerful world boss that can be found in Weaver's Fin, Morningdale, Brightwood, or Ebonscale Reach. After accepting the quest, open your map and zoom out to see Bazu's current location, marked on your map. Note that Bazu moves between the four zones, so it's possible to arrive too late if someone has already defeated him. Keep an eye out for his next respawn if this happens.
Key details about Bazu:
- You can kill Bazu multiple times, but you will receive five pieces of gear per day from him.
- Each kills grants Night Veil Tokens, iErs, and 650 item-level Night Veil Hollow gear pieces.
- After the five daily gear drops, additional kills will still reward iErs, which can be exchanged for more tokens.
The Rewards: Gear, Tokens, and Cosmetics
Once you've slain Bazu and collected iErs, head back to the cauldron at any settlement. You can dump the iErs into the cauldron there, which will reward you with Night Veil Tokens and armor caches containing gear and other goodies. You can then spend these tokens at Salvatore's shop, which offers many Halloween-themed rewards.
Salvatore's shop has three tiers of rewards:
- Fledgling Tier (5 tokens): Includes items like the Basket of Treats (housing item), Night Veil Armor Pattern, and Night Veil Weapon Pattern.
- Mid Tier (10–12 tokens): Includes higher-end items like Gear Score 700 armor patterns, the Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Head skin, the Witch Hat skin, and skeleton-themed emotes like the Skeleton Twirl.
- High Tier: Features exclusive items such as the Possessed Walk emote and the Chromatic Seal, which can be purchased every 72 hours for 10 tokens. This seal is particularly valuable for upgrading gear.
With so many cosmetic options and the potential to craft 700 gear score items, this event offers plenty of rewards for dedicated players. Make sure to prioritize farming tokens to unlock your favorite cosmetics before the event ends.
Trick-or-Treating: Costumes and Tokens
The event isn't just about fighting world bosses. After you've collected a few costume pieces from your battles with Bazu, you can start trick-or-treating in various settlements. Look in your inventory under Utility Items to find costumes like the Thorp or Adana costumes. Once equipped, these costumes allow you to participate in trick-or-treating around the settlements.
Find the trick-or-treat baskets scattered throughout towns to collect even more Night Veil Tokens and candy. Each basket respawns in 15 hours so that you can check back daily for more rewards.
Strategy: Maximize Your Daily Progress
To make the most of the event, planning your day around farming Bazu for gear and tokens is a good idea. Each day resets at 5:00 AM local time, meaning you can collect up to five pieces of gear every 24 hours. After collecting your five gear pieces, continue to farm Bazu for additional iErs and tokens. Combining these boss fights with trick-or-treating lets you quickly gather enough tokens to buy everything from Salvatore's shop in just a few sessions.
