What's Happening with Path of Exile 1?
It seems the new league, originally anticipated for this year, will be delayed. Recently, a timeline was released, and it indicates that Path of Exile 1 will continue alongside Path of Exile 2. While PoE 2 is launching its early access on December 6, we won't see a new league for PoE 1 until January. This is a strategic decision, as the developers are focusing their resources on the upcoming sequel, which they consider a significant milestone.
So, while Path of Exile 1 has received two expansions this year, including the notable "Settlers of Cur," the new league won't drop until early 2025. The developers have confirmed that the upcoming league will extend the current one, creating a longer league cycle for 3.25. While the exact timeline may shift, we could likely see a push to February.
Upcoming Events
On November 7, PoE will launch a fresh version of the "Settlers of Calgo" event, running parallel to the current league. This will include the return of the lantern mechanic from the Necropolis league, allowing players to manipulate monster mods more rewardingly. Participating players can expect standard rewards and challenges, adding excitement to the current gameplay.
This event acts as a low-impact reset, allowing players to experience the league anew while the developers focus on the upcoming Path of Exile 2. Many players, myself included, are looking forward to this mid-league reset. It's a chance to try out new builds and strategies without the usual grind of a fresh league.
Overall, I believe these changes are positive. While some players may be disappointed by the delays, this extended time allows for greater appreciation of both Path of Exile 1 and the forthcoming Path of Exile 2. The mid-league event provides an engaging way to stay involved in PoE 1, ensuring there's still plenty to enjoy as we await the sequel.
