Mastering Deliriums in Path of Exile 2

by        Game: Path of Exile 2 Guide

Welcome, exiles, to an in-depth look at one of Path of Exile 2's fascinating mechanics: Delirium. This guide will cover everything from how to acquire these mystical items to how to use them for both gameplay enhancement and economic gain. Let's get right to the heart of Deliriums.

What are Deliriums used for?

Deliriums in Path of Exile 2 come in various forms such as Ira, Guilt, Greed, Paranoia, Envy and others, each with a unique name and purpose. These aren't just collectibles; they unlock specific nodes in your skill tree. For example, if you're looking at your Skills menu, holding down the Alternate button will reveal the Delirium requirements for certain nodes. To unlock Escape Velocity, you might need Greed, Disgust and Suffering, while another node might require Greed, Guilt and Paranoia. This system allows for deep customisation of your character's abilities, making Deliriums an important part of your build strategy.

How to obtain and upgrade Deliriums

Farming certain Deliriums can be a challenge, but crafting offers a solution. Using the Reforging Bench, you can combine three of any level of the same Delirium to upgrade it. For example, you could combine three Ira Deliriums to create a Guilt Delirium, which is one level higher. This process can be repeated to move up the tiers, unlocking more powerful nodes in your skill tree.

For example, if you want to craft Primal Protection, you'll need to collect Guilt, Greed and Paranoia and make sure they're in the right order when you combine them at the bank. This precision in crafting is vital, as the order can change the outcome, so always double check before you commit.

The economic value of deliriums

Deliriums aren't just for personal use, they also have a market value. If you go to your Delirium tab, you can trade them for currency. A high-level Delirium such as Envy can fetch around 2.75 to 3 Exalted Orbs, making it a lucrative farming target. This economic aspect adds another layer to your gameplay, providing a consistent way to earn currency through map farming.

Maximising Delirium Farming

In order to farm Deliriums effectively, you'll need to get to know the Delirium Mirrors found in the maps. These mirrors are identified by a special icon on the map. When you enter a map with a Delirium Mirror, your goal is to kill as many monsters as possible within the time limit to maximise your Delirium drops. Remember that dying can cause you to lose your progress, so survival is key.

The process involves passing through the Delirium Mirror to start the encounter, where a fog envelops the map and spawns additional, tougher enemies. As you clear these monsters, a counter at the bottom left of your screen fills up, leading to Delirium drops. The more you clear, the more Deliriums you'll get, with each mirror potentially leading to multiple drops if you're efficient.
