Welcome, adventurers of Azeroth,to deep dive into the world of Insignias in World of Warcraft's Season of Discovery. Today we're going to explore the intricacies of the Dawn Insignia and the Crusade Insignia, which are essential for those who want to equip efficiently in Phase 7. Let's unpack the system, shall we?
Understanding the Insignia System
In the heart of the Eastern Plaguelands, at the Chapel of Light's Hope, the Argent Dawn offers quests based on your reputation with them. For those of us who've reached Revered status, like yours truly, the Superior and Epic Armor quests give us access to some pretty nifty gear. Here's the breakdown:
Superior Armor (Revered): You'll need 7 Dawn Insignias and 7 Crusade Insignias to grab the coveted 30 slot bag or a few pieces of hallowed gear. Given the usefulness of the slots, this is often the first choice.
Epic Armaments (Revered): For the big spenders or those with deep pockets, this requires a whopping 45 of each insignia. The gear here is powerful, especially with the Sanctified bonus, but it's a grind. Exalted status with the Argent Dawn reduces this cost significantly, so aim for that if you can.
Farming Dawn insignia
To collect these, you'll need to be friendly with the Argent Dawn, which will unlock turn-ins from various NPCs:
Core of Elements: Best farmed from level 50-60 elementals. The Elemental Invasions are prime locations:
Water: Frozen Lake of Winterspring
Fire: Un'Goro Crater's Ridge of Fire
Earth: Azshara
Air: Silithus
For efficiency, however, Blackrock Depths (BRD) is your friend. As well as being a good source of Core Elements, it's also a good source of Dark Iron Scrap.
Dark Iron Scrap: These are plentiful in BRD, making it the place to go. Searing Gorge and the Ruins of Thaurissan are also good, but BRD provides a controlled environment.
Farming Crusade badges
This requires a bit more legwork, but here's how it's done:
Crypt fiend parts: Can be found in Stratholme, Scholomance, or the open-world Terror Dale in Eastern Plaguelands. For a solo approach, Terror Dale is less competitive.
Bone Fragments: Dropped by any skeletal or bone-based creature in the Plaguelands or Karazhan Crypts. Efficient farming can be combined with your daily Karazhan runs.
The Wildcard: Savage Fronds
Here's where things get interesting. Savage Fronds can be traded for either insignia, providing flexibility. For flexibility, if Dark Iron Scrap is easy to come by, consider turning in Savage Fronds for Crusade badges.
Savage Flora: Farmed by any plant-based creature between levels 45-60.
Prime locations include:
Dire Maul East in Feralas for a dungeon farm
The Orange Side of Maraudon for a concentrated plant infestation
Un'Goro Crater for open-world farming
Tips for efficiency
Start with Venerable: If you're not exalted, focus on getting there. You'll save a lot of resources.
Prioritise the 30 slot pouch: It's unique, repeatable and incredibly useful.
Balance your farming: Mix your farming between the open world and instances like BRD for a balanced approach to resource gathering.
Keep an eye on prices: The market for these materials can fluctuate. Sometimes buying can be more efficient than farming.
