Final Fantasy XIV 7.0 Officially Announced

At the FFXIV FANFEST in Las Vegas, producer Naoki Yoshida presented the first trailer for the latest expansion, "Legacy of Gold." The official announcement also revealed that the game will be coming to the Xbox platform. Key points are summarized below:

New Adventure Setting: Version 7.0 aims to showcase the "Warrior of Light's greatest summer vacation and a new adventure." Players will travel to the new continent of Tural in western Eorzea to participate in the "Inheritance Ceremony," where they help choose a new king. This ceremony will divide the "Scions of the Seventh Dawn" into two competing teams.

New Areas: The expansion introduces the new main city "Troyala" and new regions "Orco Patcha" and "Yak Tle Jungle," with concept art and screenshots revealed.

New Friendly Tribe: The "Pelpel" tribe, originally from Final Fantasy X, known for their masks and commerce skills.

Level Cap Increase: The maximum level will be raised to 100, including combat and crafting classes.

New Jobs: Two new classes will be added, one melee physical classes and one ranged magical classes.

New Dungeons and Raids: New four-player dungeons, new 24-player alliance raids, new eight-player high-difficulty raids, and new ultimate difficulty raids.

New Primal Threat: Valigarmanda, a new primal in the new continent.

Main Scenario Updates: The main scenario dungeons will support the Duty Support system.

New Gear and Crafting Tools: A plethora of new weapons, gear, and crafting tools will be introduced.

Expanded PvP Content: New updates for Crystalline Conflict and Frontline modes.

Blue Mage Updates: New content for the Blue Mage class.

Investigator Quest Line: Continued content for the "Investigator" quest line.

New Deep Dungeon: Introduction of a new deep dungeon.

Gold Saucer Updates: New content for the Gold Saucer amusement park.

Graphics Upgrade: Version 7.0 will feature the first graphical upgrade focusing on enhancing overall visual fidelity, including textures and lighting, while retaining the familiar aesthetic.

System Upgrades:

Enhanced dye system allowing two colors per item, to be rolled out gradually if not available at launch.
New "glasses" gear slot, separate from headgear, not occupying armoury chest space.
Increased furnishing limits for housing, with updates expected in later 7.x patches.

Xbox Platform Announcement:

FFXIV will launch on Xbox in spring 2024, supporting XSX|S with fast load times and 4K resolution on XSX. An open beta for version 6.5x will precede the official release. Xbox players will enjoy cross-platform play with PS5, PS4, and PC users.

Future SE-Xbox Collaboration: SE President Takashi Kiryu announced plans for further collaboration with Xbox, starting with FFXIV in spring 2024 and potentially bringing more games to the platform.
