This guide will cover all aspects—whether you're mining, botany, crafting, or just want to kill stuff to make Gil. There's something here for everyone. As expected at the start of an expansion, gathering, and crafting are topping the gil charts, but a couple of combat-related activities will also net you a lot of money per hour.
Low-Level Gathering and Market Board
Starting with very low-level gathering, if you're around level 30 in gathering and want money now, crystals are doing fantastic. Fire crystals are topping at 162 gil each, and wind crystals are around the same price at 162 gil. Lightning crystals are at 110, water at 95, ice at 69, and earth at 58. Wind and fire crystals stand out price-wise, having doubled since Endwalker.
You can also assign your retainers to gather these crystals if they are miners or botanists and aren't at a high enough level to gather higher-tier materials. This can be great money to save for your crafts or sell on the market board.
Higher-Level Gathering
Moving into slightly higher-level gathering, peppermint is topping the chart for lower-level gatherables. This is a level 75 timed node, so you probably want to be around level 80 to gather this. Peppermint is selling for 6.5 gil each, and although it's a timed node, there's significant profit potential here. It's used in a few potions and tinctures, so its price might increase.
If you don't have time for timed nodes and are still not level 90+, there are a couple of fantastic Endwalker gatherables to get. For instance, dark rye is a level 82 or 83 gatherable in Endwalker. Dark rye is selling for roughly 2,000 gil each and is very stable. If you're level 100 or around 90+, you're likely getting two rye per click, meaning you can earn a minimum of 8,000 gil per node without using abilities and up to 13,000 gil per minute with abilities.
You could also craft dark rye into dark rye flour. The main cost here is fire crystals, but you get three dark rye flour in return, making it a decent option. If you get high-quality results, you can keep them for your crafts or sell them on the market board.
Alternative Gathering Options
If you don't have botany up, there's a mining option: osal water, which sells for around 1,90 gil per. It's still decent money, but not as high as dark rye.
In Dawntrail, you might also gather white gold ore, selling for around 1,900 gil each. Pear grass for botany is another good option. It is used in a few alchemy recipes, like the CP Conning Craftsman Tincture, and used for Savage crafting later on.
Ephemeral Nodes and Aetherial Reduction
Regarding ephemeral nodes and aetherial reduction, sun glint aether sand is used only in Dawntrail recipes. It's used in all grade-one potions and is stockpiled for future use.
Material
Everyone can take part in material farming. Craftsmanship and gathering materials are very profitable due to the high demand for crafting and gathering gear. For battle material, Savage (critical hit) sells for around 21k each, and Direct Hit material sells for about the same price. These will likely increase in price when the patch hits and new gear requires pentamelding.
Hunt Trains and Fates
Participating in hunt trains can net you cracked Noah clusters, which you can exchange for high-value material. Fates in Dawntrail are insane money-makers right now, earning around 18,000 gil per fate. You can spend your bicolor gemstones on items like Ronkan chucks, which sell for around 3.2k each and give you about 18,000 gil per fate.
Stockpiling for Future Profits
Consider stockpiling tumbleweed claws, as their price is expected to increase when Dawntrail Savage hits. They're used in various consumables, and as crafters and raiders prepare for the new content, the demand will rise.
Gathering, crafting, spirit bonding, and fates are currently the best gil-makers. Gathering and crafting slightly edge out others due to the high value of spirit-bonded material. As prices fluctuate, keep an eye on the market and adjust your strategies accordingly.
