The Early Access release of Path of Exile 2 is fast approaching, with an official launch set for November 15(Update: delayed to December 6th). For fans who haven't been following the updates closely, here's an in-depth breakdown of everything to expect, from access details and pricing to class options and endgame content.

Early Access Date and Entry Options

Path of Exile 2 is set to release in Early Access on November 15(Update: delayed to December 6th), and Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has made several access options available:

Direct Invite from GGG:

While not widely available, select players may receive exclusive Early Access invitations from the developers.

Lifetime Spenders Over $480:

GGG is offering a unique perk to loyal fans who have spent over $480 on the original Path of Exile, whether on supporter packs, cosmetics, or shop items. These players will automatically gain Early Access.

$30 Paywall for New Players:

For most players who haven't met the spending threshold, Early Access will cost $30. This amount includes $25 in in-game currency for spending on cosmetics or stash tabs, effectively making Early Access itself only $5.

Pricing and In-Game Currency Value

Despite Path of Exile being free-to-play, Early Access to PoE2 has a paywall similar to the original game's initial launch. However, the $30 fee also grants players in-game currency that can be used to purchase cosmetics or stash tabs, essentially making the upfront cost negligible for those who plan to invest in the game.

Class and Ascendancy Options

Path of Exile 2 brings a significant evolution in class diversity with twelve available classes. Each class will have three unique Ascendancy options, giving players 36 total Ascendancies to explore. Here's a list of the main classes in Early Access:

Witch Sorceress Shadow Monk Ranger Huntress Duelist Mercenary Marauder Warrior Templar Druid

Each Ascendancy offers distinct playstyles and skill options that transform characters in dramatic ways.
For example, the Marauder class can ascend into:
Berserker: A high-risk, high-reward melee fighter who deals and receives increased damage.
Juggernaut: A resilient, tanky build designed to endure sustained damage.
Chieftain: A fire-centric class able to play as both a caster and melee hybrid.
Not all 36 Ascendancies may be available in Early Access, but each class's versatility should allow players to find builds tailored to their preferred playstyles.

Content and Progression

In terms of content, Path of Exile 2 Early Access will feature three acts and endgame content. While further acts could be added in the future, the current setup resembles the initial phases of the original Path of Exile, with a robust campaign and challenging endgame to enjoy.
GGG has hinted that PoE2's endgame will be as intricate as its predecessor, with varied zones, monster types, and loot systems that reward strategic gameplay. However, there hasn't been a final word on specifics, so further details are likely to be revealed closer to launch.

Seasonal Content and Resets

Fans of Path of Exile's League system will be pleased to know that PoE2 is expected to support seasonal resets similar to those in Diablo IV and PoE1. However, it's still unclear if these seasonal leagues will be available in Early Access. If seasonal content isn't initially included, players can expect it to become available post-launch, adding another layer of replayability.

Account Progression and Item Transfer

For long-time PoE players, purchased items from the original game will transfer over to PoE2. Cosmetics, stash tabs, and other purchases will be available in the new game, providing a seamless transition. Players with an extensive stash will appreciate this feature, as it ensures their progress and inventory investments carry forward into the new experience.

Platform Compatibility and Cross-Play

Cross-play will be a much-requested feature in Path of Exile 2. While it's yet to be confirmed if this feature will launch with Early Access, cross-play will allow players to enjoy PoE2 on both PC and console, making it easier than ever to team up with friends regardless of platform.
Console players who enjoy gaming on their PS5 or Xbox from the comfort of their couch can look forward to cross-play integration soon.

Separate Development for Path of Exile 1

For those who prefer PoE1, GGG will continue to support and update it alongside PoE2. Both games will have separate development teams, allowing each to evolve without sacrificing the unique identity of the other. This parallel support structure is great news for dedicated PoE1 fans who wish to keep exploring its established systems without shifting to PoE2.
