Funcom deployed Patch 1.2.20.0 on November 18, 2025, delivering long-awaited quality-of-life changes and stability improvements that directly address community feedback. This release refines core mechanics, reduces frustrations in travel and combat, and polishes the overall experience on the harsh Arrakis. Whether players roam the dunes solo or in guilds, these adjustments make daily survival more intuitive and enjoyable. As someone who appreciates when developers listen and iterate quickly, this patch feels like a solid step forward.

One of the most requested features is finally here: carrier ornithopters can now harness and transport vehicles between different maps on Arrakis. This change revolutionizes how players move resources, gear, and rides across regions, saving hours of tedious repositioning.
Note that accessing the inventory of a harnessed vehicle at an exchange or bank isn't available yet—Funcom has confirmed this will be added in a future update. For now, it opens up new strategies for large-scale spice runs or guild relocations.
The Communinet now includes a new radio station, Spice Wars Symphonics, streaming tracks from the Dune: Spice Wars soundtrack. This addition brings epic orchestral pieces to flights and base downtime, perfectly capturing the grandeur of the Dune universe without overriding custom playlists.
Testing stations in the Deep Desert are now properly flagged:
Northern stations → PvP-enabled
Southern stations → PvE-only
This eliminates confusing ambushes in supposed safe zones and makes the Deep Desert's risk-reward balance more predictable and fair.
The highly anticipated Base Reconstruction Tool (also known as the backup or relocation feature) did not make it into this patch. After extensive testing on the Public Test Client, Funcom chose to delay it to incorporate player feedback and prevent potential bugs that could affect entire bases. Expect it in the next major update—patience will pay off with a more reliable version.
Change | Previous Behavior | New Behavior | Player Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
Down-but-Not-Out Enemy Health | 10% remaining | Increased to 30% | Finishes feel more deliberate; higher stakes in thumper recoveries |
Ornithopter Collision Handling | Easy to bump and slow others | Strong rebound + reduced griefing | Solo pilots can escape harassment more reliably |
Vehicle Recovery Cost Indicator | Sometimes unclear | Solari projection turns red if insufficient funds | No more surprise denials when calling backups |
Sandworm Breach Distance | Often too close | Surfaces farther away | Fewer instant vehicle losses to worms |
These tweaks make aerial travel safer and ground combat tenser in the best way.
Shipwrecks and similar checkpoints no longer serve as respawn points in the Deep Desert. This solidifies the zone as pure high-risk territory—lose a fight or get caught by a worm, and the walk back (or loss) is part of the punishment and thrill.
New news feed section appears directly on the main menu for instant patch and event awareness.
Research menu search performance significantly boosted—finding schematics or skills is now near-instant.
Fuel cell gauge standardized to yellow like all other resource bars.
HUD warning when attempting to heal at full health (no more wasted medkits).
Controller trading inputs revised to avoid accidental conflicts.
Numerous animation, clipping, and NPC interaction fixes for smoother daily play.
The update includes a foundational overhaul that resolves:
Persistent login queue issues
"Server not ready" errors
Frame-rate drops around Sentinel City through asset optimization and better global illumination
Additional fixes cover land claim visuals, base shield transparency, blueprint placement, post-Corolis storm inventory exploits, and more. The game simply runs better, especially in populated areas.
Yes, the vehicle itself travels with the harness, but inventory access at exchanges/banks is coming in the next patch.
Funcom delayed it after PTC feedback and targets the very next major patch—likely December 2025 or early 2026.
Collision changes make intentional bumping almost impossible and fling harassers away, making solo flight much safer than before.
No—all northern stations are PvP, all southern are PvE, based on their fixed location.
No direct compensation announced, but the extra polish time should prevent major bugs that could have wiped or broken bases.
