With the release of
Cataclysm Classic, WoW Classic has seen a resurgence similar to the Wrath of the Lich King era, with active player numbers exceeding 250,000 according to WCL data. Blizzard recently announced in a blue post that
Cataclysm Classic Phase 2, "Rise of the Zandalari," will go live on July 30. Today, let's explore the new content with
MMOJUGG!
Just when you thought you could avoid the lure of "voodoo," a new adventure beckons, summoning you to venture into Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman, thwart the Zandalari's schemes, and reap the rewards of your efforts.
Over the years, the Zandalari tribe, including the wise and learned troll ancestors, have heroically assisted the Horde and Alliance in thwarting the evil activities of their kin in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Drak.
However, the chaos wrought by the recent Cataclysm has reshaped the Zandalari's philosophy toward the world and their dwindling race.
Under the leadership of a mysterious prophet named Zul, the Zandalari trolls have called upon the beleaguered troll tribes of Azeroth to unite, form a mighty empire, and save their race from extinction.
So far, the Gurubashi and Amani trolls have answered the call, aided by the Zandalari trolls, allowing them to rebuild their capitals in Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman.
However, not all trolls eagerly embrace the Zandalari's grand vision of a new troll empire. Vol'jin and his Darkspear tribe oppose Zul's militaristic ambitions. To prevent the growing forces of the Gurubashi and Amani trolls from wreaking havoc on Azeroth, Vol'jin seeks help from his Horde comrades and Alliance members. If the Darkspear campaign fails, a new troll empire will rise, bringing war to a world already plagued by suffering and conflict.
A Threat Fought in Secret
Vol'jin has cautiously dispatched Darkspear representatives to Stormwind and Orgrimmar, calling all able-bodied adventurers to investigate the threat emerging in Stranglethorn Vale.
The situation is dire. The Gurubashi tribe has regained strength and is wreaking havoc in Stranglethorn Vale. Players will have the chance to embark on new level 85 solo quests in Stranglethorn Vale and discover the challenges ahead—the Gurubashi leadership remains largely intact and has been revitalized by their new alliance with the Zandalari tribe.
Along the way, players will assist an arrogant and impulsive Darkspear shadow hunter named Bwemba, track down the elusive Hemet Nesingwary, and encounter many new Zul'Gurub bosses in the sweltering jungles of Stranglethorn Vale.
Rewards for resolving the Stranglethorn Vale issue include a cute black panther pet. Players should seek out Vol'jin's representatives at the ports of Orgrimmar or Stormwind to begin their adventure.
Return to Zul'Gurub
This ancient city has once again become a rallying point for the mighty Gurubashi people, who launch attacks against those they see as invaders of their ancestral lands. Now, with Zandalari support, the Gurubashi present players with new challenges in this level 85 five-player heroic dungeon.
While players may encounter some familiar faces, the encounters and mechanics have been significantly updated. If you ally with the Darkspear tribe, High Priest Venoxis, Bloodlord Mandokir, High Priestess Kilnara, Zanzil, and Jin'do the Godbreaker will make it clear—your invasion will come at a price.
Defeating them will reward you with a treasure map. You'll want to find its precious loot, including a Bind on Account ring with a gem large enough to be visible when worn!
Additionally, for those with high enough Archaeology skill, Zul'Gurub unlocks an extra boss. Gri'lek, Renataki, Hazza'rah, and Wushoolay will be randomly selected to end those who dig too deep for more riches.
If your team survives the challenges, you will receive various rewards from any of the four bosses, including unique loot from each boss.
Amani Regrouping
With the help of the Zandalari trolls, the surviving Amani trolls have regrouped under the new and determined leadership of Daakara. Zul'Aman has been transformed into a challenging level 85 five-player heroic dungeon.
For those who fought Zul'jin during the Burning Crusade, much of the dungeon will feel familiar, but the mechanics have been updated for a five-player group. Akil'zon, Nalorakk, Jan'alai, Halazzi, Hex Lord Malacrass, and Daakara aim to bring their tribe out of hiding and become a force to be reckoned with. Challengers beware.
Both Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub require players to have an average item level of at least 346 to enter. These heroic dungeons will be in a separate heroic difficulty tier in the Dungeon Finder, above the current Cataclysm heroic dungeons.
In return, they will offer players item level 353 epic-quality loot. Players can expect to find items for nearly every slot in these two dungeons, with an emphasis on filling hard-to-gear slots or profession items, such as bracers, helmets, shoulders, guns, and wands.
Rare Mounts and More
As with the original versions of Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman, players will have the chance to obtain updated rare mounts. Swift Zulian Panther and Armored Razzashi Raptor can be obtained in Zul'Gurub, while the Amani War Bear can be earned by defeating the first four bosses in Zul'Aman within a limited time.
