Let's dive into the mists.

1. Level Cap Raised to 90
The level cap increases from 85 to 90, opening up new quests and challenges in Pandaria's zones such as Jade Forest and Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
2. Pandaren Race Introduced
Play as the neutral Pandaren and choose between the Horde and Alliance after the Wandering Isle intro. Classes available: Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warrior, Death Knight, Monk.
3. Monk Class Debuts
The Monk class offers three specs: Brewmaster (tank), Mistweaver (healer), and Windwalker (DPS). Playable by most races except Goblins and Worgen, Monks use Warglaives for transmog.
4. Pet Battle System
Capture and battle Pokémon-style pets, level them up, complete dailies and fight players or NPCs. Pets gain XP and you can sell them on the Auction House.
5. Scenarios: 3-Player Micro-Dungeons
Scenarios are quick, role-agnostic 3-player instances (such as Greenstone Village, Unga Ingoo) with story-driven objectives. Heroic mode adds timed challenges for additional rewards.
6. Challenge Mode Dungeons
Challenge Modes scale gear for timed dungeon runs, rewarding Bronze, Silver or Gold medals. Gold Clears unlock class-specific transmog sets and a flying mount.
7. Flexible Raiding
Patch 5.4's Flexible Raiding (10-25 players) dynamically scales difficulty, perfect for groups of varying sizes. It's harder than Raid Finder, but easier than Normal/Heroic.
8. New Raids in Phase 1
Three raids are launching: Mogu'shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, and Terrace of Endless Spring, available in Normal, Heroic, and (presumably) Raid Finder modes. Heroic requires completing Normal.
9. World Bosses Return
Two Phase 1 world bosses, Galleon and Sha of Anger, drop personal loot. Sha of Wrath starts a quest for epic boots. Use bonus rolls to increase your chance of looting.
10. Bonus Rolls with Charms
Weekly quests grant charms for three bonus rolls per week, which can be saved for later. Use them on raid or world bosses to increase your chance of looting certain items.
11. Warforged Items
Introduced later, Warforged items have higher item levels and stats and drop in Normal and Heroic modes for PvE and PvP gear, including tiered pieces.
12. AoE Looting
Loot a corpse to collect from all nearby enemies, saving time when farming or clearing.
13. Talent System Overhaul
Choose a specialisation at level 10. Every 15 levels (15, 30, 45, etc.), choose one of three talents, replacing the old talent trees with more powerful choices.
14. Automatic Spell Learning
Spells and abilities unlock automatically as you level, eliminating the need to visit trainers for a smoother experience.
15. Farming System
Plant and harvest crops on your personal farm in the Valley of the Four Winds to create new recipes.
16. Professions to 600
Professions capped at 600, with new recipes. No need for skinning knives or mining picks, although they give +10 skill when equipped.
17. Engineering Upgrades
Engineers can add a glider to cloaks for slow falls or escapes, and a 12-second water walk/swim speed boost.
18. Underwater Mount
The Azure Water Strider, an underwater walking mount, is gated behind Exalted reputation with The Anglers.
19. Reputation Boost Items
Purchase items to increase reputation gains for all alts, making faction grind easier.
20. Exploration Achievements
Discover items throughout Pandaria to unlock new Exploration Achievements that reward thorough adventurers.
21. Mobile Casting for Classes
Priests (via Glyph), Mages (via Talent) and Shamans (Flash) can cast selected spells while moving, increasing their mobility.
22. Druid Spec Split
At level 10, Druids can choose between Feral (DPS) or Guardian (tanking), with a total of four specs for clearer roles.
23. Hunter Changes
Hunters lose melee and ranged weapon slots, have no minimum attack range, and can shoot point-blank.
24. Shaman Relic Removal
Shamans no longer use relics, preferring to focus on weapons or shields for simplicity.
25. Black Market Auction House
Spend gold on rare mounts (such as the Yuan Tiger), transmogs, or high-level (80-85) gear with stats that rival level 86-87 items.
26. Brawler's Guild
Fight solo against NPCs in Orgrimmar (Horde) or Deepholm (Alliance) to level up and receive an heirloom weapon, mount, and level-90 epic ring.
27. Updated Dungeon Journal
The Dungeon Journal now covers Classic, Burning Crusade, and Wrath dungeons/raids, detailing mechanics and loot.
28. Reworked Classic Dungeons
Some Classic dungeons (e.g. Scarlet Monastery, Scholomance) have new bosses, mechanics, and Heroic modes with improved loot.
29. Simplified Dungeon Quests
Cataclysm dungeon quests no longer require pre-quests; they can be picked up at the dungeon entrance or through the Random Dungeon Finder.
30. Rare Creature Tracking
Rare creatures will appear on the minimap, and some will drop a 300% XP boost elixir for one hour, making it easier to level without boosts.

Leveling and Gameplay Tips

Starting Zone: Both factions begin in Jade Forest (levels 85–86). No flying until level 90, so ground mounts are key. PvP servers feel dangerous.
Fast Leveling: Use rare creature XP elixirs or pet battles for XP. Guild heirlooms (10% XP boost) require honoured reputation and an achievement.
PvE: Focus on Challenge Modes for transmogs and Scenarios for quick rewards. Use bonus rolls on world bosses for epic gear.
PvP: Try new battlegrounds (such as Silvershard Mines) and the Arena. Black market gear can give you an edge.
Professions: Get to level 600 early for new recipes. The Engineering glider is great for PvP escapes.

Why Play Mists of Pandaria Classic?

Pros: Lively zones, iconic raids (such as the Siege of Orgrimmar), and innovative systems like pet battles and scenarios. Pandaren and Monks add fresh role-play.
Cons: Recent Remix event may reduce nostalgia. Some players feel Classic is drifting from its roots.
Verdict: Ideal for veterans craving 2012 nostalgia, or new players looking for rich content. The Sha-Infused Epic Pack ($40) offers cosmetics, a level 85 boost and 30 days of game time for a head start.
